What's the better buy?
I'm new to the forum, looking to buy a G37/Q60 coupe 6MT. There's 2 near me in my price range that I'm torn between. They've both been on the dealers lots for over a month. The first is a 2011 gunmetal IPL with 15k miles for $24990 and the other is a 2014 gunmetal sport with 14k miles for $25990. Both 6MT (won't settle for auto) but trying to decide what the better buy is? What will hold its value better? Is the IPL going to be worth more when it's 12+ years old vs a regular sport due to its rarity or is it better to get the one that's 3 years newer? My dream G would be a gunmetal IPL with red interior (this IPL is black inside) but they are almost impossible to find. It's hard enough just finding a G in stick anymore. Are there any differences from 2011-15?

The fact that the popular saying with those recommending BMW is " Aw yea! BMW 335i all the way over the G! Such an awesome car! BUT....just make sure you trade in before the warranty expires!!" speaks volumes.
The G is a great car and if OP goes 2012 or newer then he''ll be fine. Not to mention I'm sure he'd actually like to drive his car and not the rental that's offered at German dealerships.
Will the G be expensive to maintain? Yea, compared to my Mazda it's more expensive but compared to German? It's not even close. Will it break repeatedly and drain your life savings? Absolutely not. There's a reason it's ranked #8 in the consumer reports ahead of Honda who is synonymous with reliability.

My current 2004 G35 coupe is my first non-American car and after 9 years of ownership (4 years old when I bought it) I had to put tires, brakes, battery and belts on it. Granted it only has 70k miles so I'd be pissed if something major or expensive went wrong with it but I know a lot of people with bmws and audis, neither make it to 70k without a problem and even the routine maintenance on German cars cost way more. So if a 2012-15 G37/Q60 coupe is as good as my 04 I'll be happy with it.

Back to OPs original question between the 2011 IPL and 2014 Sport. I'm pretty sure that after 2012 the head unit for radio/nav was updated also if that's important to you. Easy streaming bluetooth connectivity and the longer warranty would probably sell me on the 2014 Q60s which is what I actually own now. Peace of mind of a factory warranty is priceless.

Thank you all for all the input. The 2014 sold but I found another 14 with 32k miles for $25k. I still have to sell my 04 G35 coupe before I can buy a newer one but now I know to stay away from 2011 and older. I believe the audio and nav systems were updated in 2010 and haven't changed since? I know 2010 started coming with Bluetooth audio and USB connectivity but have they updated anything else since? I'm only going to buy a 6MT which I know only come with every option available.
