Smile New member, looking for g37.

Hey everyone,
So i've been thinking about making my fist big boy purchase. I currently have a 2003 i35 which i have had since I was 16 about 6 years ago. Anyway im looking to get a G37, preferably coupe; perferably AWD. Any suggestions on what part of the country I can find one? Are there certain websites that I should be looking at? They are rare in my part of the country, im willing to go anywhere to get one that i fall in love with. Anything helps.
Thanks everyone!

Welcome, glad you are here and great decision on getting a G37. Where are you located? I would keep my eye on any and all sites, including Cars.com, Autotrader, and Craigslist. I would keep my distance from independent used car dealers, unless they are well-known like Carmax. A lot of times, they buy their cars from auction and have something wrong with them and/or try to use unfair selling tactics on customers.

When I was shopping for my G37 I literally looked on all 3 of the websites I listed every day for 3 months until I found one within my price range and preferred distance. I had a very specific set of parameters, which is why I didn't settle until I found one that was close enough.

Good luck!

I live in the midwest, and I have been looking on cargurus a lot, is that somewhat reliable? I assume that it all depends on the dealer; anyway I have been looking for the past few months, made a few phone calls, just nothing that I've been 100 percent about.
Thank you!

Car Gurus is a good site too. It does depend on the dealer, not all used car dealerships are honest. I tried purchasing from one in my area, and I knew not to mess with them again. Car looked great on the website but in person it was a whole different story. Now I only purchase from known dealers (like new car dealers that receive trade-ins) or from private sellers.

I looked for 3-4 months also. Carmax, cars.com, autotrader were all good. Test drove a 2013 G37xs at carmax with 25k miles priced at $25.9k here local in Atlanta and loved it, ended up not buying because it had a front end collision, only cosmetic but they advertised no accidents on the carfax and the only reason I noticed was because it had an IPL front bumper. Be mindful of anything that may look out of the ordinary in person. Luckily I found a 14 Q60s with 19k miles for a great deal with everything I wanted. Believe it or not it was at an Infiniti dealer and I watched the price drop for weeks from $29.9k to $26.9k and that's when I pulled the trigger. Good luck though! Try big market areas like Atlanta, Dallas, Houston I saw some of the best prices there.

I used CarGurus when I did my research. Along with a 150 mile radius from my zip. Ended up driving 90 miles to get the G37 I took home. If distance REALLY is not an issue for you I can not recommend United Auto Sales in DE enough. Located in DE, but I paid tolls twice just to deal with them. Independent used car dealership as well, but very different from what I had experienced with other dealerships. Extremely knowledgeable crew and down to earth. They have 5 G37s and 2 Q60s now at great deals. I can attest that any car you look at will be IMMACULATE and well kept with a clean history. I drove 5 different vehicles before the G37 and each one was pristine. The owner lives by the statement that - he would never sell a vehicle he wouldn't own himself - and he lives up to it.

Feel free to google them and check out their inventory but give them a call and feel them out. In my experience, I dealt with the owner, Brian, and it felt like I was talking to another guy who was passionate about cars; and when I spoke to his wife when I was first inquiring there was absolutely no pressure and you were made to feel like you were more than just a sale to them. They worked with me to trade in my Lancer and still walk away with a great deal and an excellent rate without coming out of pocket while rolling over negative equity (they didn't even put my Lancer up for sale which is homage to the above statement by the owner. That car was a dumpster fire). Blew USAA out of the water if that means anything to you.

Edit: I think it's also worth mentioning, they have followed up the sale with phone calls and sent multiple holiday cards (Christmas and New Years) just to reach out and see how everything was going and to make sure I was 100% happy with the car. All class.

I used autotrader and after a couple months I found exactly what I wanted locally, it worked out nicely. Just keep your eyes peeled and don't settle.

So if I find one with a carfax with it, and it shows it was bought at on auction, should I look else where?

Just because it was bought from auction doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. Dealers buy from auctions all the time. Just be sure to go check it out in person and have it inspected if you're serious.

Exactly, my car was purchased at an auction by the dealer I purchased from.

seems like you gentlemen have all used the same tactic i used, patience. i bought mine at an infiniti dealer in bethesda, md. last january. after looking at cars in pa, nj, and ohio, i found my car. i was in no hurry as this car is a toy for me. another thing is sports cars do not sell in the winter and the dealers are stuck with them esp. after christmas. according to car guru my car was sitting at the dealer for seven months off lease. seems nobody down there wanted a rear wheel drive car with a manual transmission. the sales manager said only one other person showed any interest in it. i paid last year for what they are going for this year and they shipped it to my house over 200 miles for free plus that cpo warranty. car had 19,000 miles.

Great advice from everyone on here. The key is definitely patience to find the one you truly want.

I was searching online for about 4-5 months as I was getting ready to purchase one, (down payment, building credit, etc.) I knew I wanted an S model with 6MT with preferably low mileage. In south Florida it was hard to find a used one with low mileage with a 6MT.

I used all the sites people mentioned above as well, autotrader, craigslist, carguru, you name it. Finally I found an 08 that had only 39k miles on it and loaded. I checked the car fax and it was bought at an auction but everything else checked out fine.

I drove 3 hours to a dealership in Tampa and the rest is history Very happy with my purchase as I found my dream car. I've always wanted a G coupe since the G35's came out.

Don't settle, be patient for the one you truly want and you will come out enjoying every minute of your G. Been smiling ever since.

Patience is definitely the key trait if you want a good deal on the car you want, but also having done your research kept the pressure off me and on the salesperson in my case. Most sales reps are only educated in the basics of each vehicle. I found that by being overly educated and showing that you know what you're talking about, down to factory names for the engine and transmission, can really put someone on their heels. I also inquired about the rear gasket issue in the pre-2012s I looked to see how much they really knew about the car.

The dealer I bought from was the guy who brought up EVERYTHING about this car when I simply asked him to tell me about the car a little he was very knowledgeable and was honest about the quirks and any issues with the car.
