Removing hood insulation

Removing hood insulation
My R2C intakes ripped my hood insulation and it looks yucky. If I remove the insulation will there be any negative consequences, or is it mainly used for sound deadening purposes?

Mostly used for sound deadening. Some members also say it's for bringing engine to operating temperature more quickly during cold start or used as a fire shield, but that doesn't explain why the VQ on the 370z doesn't come with one from the factory as well.
In my opinion, removing it won't have any effects other than more engine noise. If you're worried about heat soaking through and affecting paint, there's some members who run without one with no issue on paint.

A louder engine bay doesn't seem like a bad thing haha. I suspect it is for sound suppression as Infiniti is a luxury car brand and most of their customers prefer less road noise. This is why we have a similar material lining our trunk lids as well.
I appreciate it, but replacing the insulation will just lead to the same result. The MAF sensor sticks up a little bit and tears into the insulation.
