Thumbs up Installed Megan Racing Axleback- In Love

After failing to remove a rusted on nut (I didn't have any PB Blaster ), I bent the exhaust bolt in the process and wasn't able to remove it to install the new Megan Racing exhaust (4 hours later I gave up).

Drove my muffler-less car over to Henry's Muffler Shop in Raleigh, NC and they put it up on a lift, hammered out the bolt within minutes and had my exhaust installed within 20 minutes. Great guys! One of the employees was explaining a few things as they were doing it and I learned a good bit.

First impression- It's very tame.

And I'm coming from stock -> Manzo -> stock (again) -> Megan Racing. The MR axleback seems so much more refined and of higher quality (obviously) than both the Manzo and stock mufflers.

It's hardly noticeable at a warm idle, but once you get past 3,500 RPMs it opens up with a deep growl

Couldn't be happier

I installed a Megan exhaust for about 2 weeks. Liked the sound, but here's my findings:
* Everyone has their own taste
* Fit and finish on the Megan was spectacular. It's a work of art.
* The tone of the exhaust changes from a precision-tenor to a bass-y barritone
* There was a distinct drone with my 7AT at 2K RPMs. Every other RPM didnt have it, only at 2K RPMs
* Ended up selling it to a guy with a 6 speed manual. For some reason it sounded great on that car but not mine (due to the drone).

Glad yours is working out. Maybe its me being 53 that doesnt tolerate drone like a younger guy :-D

Hmmm. I also cannot tolerate drone. The Manzo Axleback I had was absolutely terrible around 3K RPM. As in- gives you a headache, get me out of this hell- bad.

The MR exhaust has no drone compared to the Manzo.. It could be the difference in cars. Or your age 😉 haha. You've got about 30 years on me.

Sounds great! I need to make a cold start video of my car in the garage. It is ridiculously loud at cold start in the morning, my neighbors would really hate me if I drove it on a daily basis.

I'm that guy. I love the sound. Pete's right, its a nice refined tone. Its a perfect gateway upgrade... maybe add some high flow cats and CAI in the future.

Not ridiculously loud at all, I fire mine up at 4:30am and haven't had any complaints.

Great to hear from you Russ. Glad the MR exhaust is working out. I'm contemplating opening mine up and cutting out a section of the muffler on the inside. I recently posted an article on it. Good luck with future upgrades as well! 👍
