G37S Mod Advice

I have a stock G37S 20th anniv ed. Coupe with 7100 miles on it. Bought new in Jan 2011 after it sat on dealership floor for almost a year. 47k out the door not bad for a MSRP 51k car. I gave it to my dad in 2012 after buying a Jaguar XKR-S. He is not driving it... so I am taking it back over to get it more exciting for him. Thinking of some mods like HRE P101 Rims, Stillen Supercharger..... but had some questions...If possible please respond with links

1- Who sells the best sounding after market exhaust for the G37S
2- Who sells the best complete coilover kit for the G37S

Thinking about having the dealership install everything at once so that its covered under warranty by dealership.

Thanks for your time!

PS- I note the car is quiet as a mouse on startup but after driving it 35-40min and getting out of the car with the car on I got the VVEL tick... whats the cure according to the TSB? Ester Oil??? They are currently using non-ester oil for oil changes at dealership.

Lothar

1. Exhaust sound is more subjective than anything...I personally love my Ark grip with hfcs but others may enjoy slightly more rumble than stock like Tanabe or Nismo where others like louder ones such as Motordyne or HKS, check out some youtube vids and see what sticks.
2. If you want to go all out and money is irrelevant...JRZ makes awesome coils with so much adjustability for any style driving. If you need a set that does everything, KW V3 is probably the best for your money. Cheaper side of Tein and Stance will give you the basics but limited potential...all depends on your goals/budget.

HRE makes top-tier quality wheels so no input needed there.
Also, I'm not positive but I think the g37 folks have better luck with the Vortec SC over Stillen...or verse visa

GT Haus and Motordyne are the top-tier exhausts for the G37. Next up would be Fast Intentions.

KW V3 are some of the best coilovers.

Exhaust: I would recommend Motordyne if money is not a issue! Ark is a good bang for your buck too paired with some fast jntentions resonated high flow cats.
Motordyne catback with Motordyne ART pipes are a great combo!

Coilovers: KW V3 coilovers are great!
Stance has a great product and if your AWD there the go to. They offer both RWD and AWD

There are innumerable coil-overs for the car thanks to Infiniti using the 370Z suspension.

There is a sticky thread in Tech/Suspension that lists coil-overs for the G. It won't tell you what to buy but will let know what's out there and where to research.

People who know indicate that Taiwanese dampers are to be avoided unless money is your limiting factor. Cheap internals and so-so damping.

Talk is cheap, let's see this HRE/StillenSC/JRZ/GTHAUS build first.

I'll comment on the Supercharger and dealer install. That sounds like a blown motor lol. Go with a real performance shop with an in house tuner for the install. In a perfect world, you should go with a turbo setup and keep the gains at 500hp or less. AAM's turbo kit would likely be the best.

VVEL tick...I just switched to Royal Purple on my last oil change and it made dramatic difference. Not just a little, a lot. If I'm at the front of the car, I can barely hear the engine running when I'm outside and there's a bit of ambient noise.

On suspension, if money is no object, absolutely go JRZ double adjustable. I think the KW v3 option would be viable since it'll probably be a set and forget situation. If you're a bit more adventurous, I'd go with Aragostas on the single adjustable front as I think the double adjustable Aragosta SS model will be a bit too firm for him. I personally wouldn't waste your time on anything like Stance, BC, Fortune, etc...they're all based on the same two or three dampers out of Korea and/or China.

On wheels, personally, I'd go with something like Volk Racing ZE40's which are very light and won't cost you 1/3 the value of the car.

If warranty is definitely an issue, and they'll cover a supercharger, go that route. Otherwise, go with one of the turbo kits that are out there. AAM and Fast Intentions both make nice twin turbo kits and Boosted Performance makes a nice single turbo kit that's a bit less expensive.

Will look into the Volk's... Rather not do the HRE again but oh yeah...they are GOOD.

Thanks for the advise on the Purple Royal... What are the specific specs of that oil your using? Does anybody know what the ITB is for the VVEL tick? That way the dealership knows what I am talking about in case they play dumb. Thanks guys for all your advises!!!

Royal Purple. It's the OEM oil weight 5w-30 or whatever the manual lists. It's full synthetic, the HPS oil as they call it.
HPS - High Performance Street Motor Oil | Royal Purple

I can't remember what I pay at my local Advance Auto but I believe a full oil change, with a quality (i.e. expensive) filter is about $50. That's $30 less than the dealer charges for their synthetic.

I can attest to that - I also use royal purple for my car and it makes a huge difference. I love it better than Mobil 1..

The car hauls a$$ and it's a lot quieter.

Dependable on which mods. Dampers are different in the front due to half shafts and I don't think any of the turbo kits work on the AWD version.
