It's the lack of aftermarket parts that makes the g boring to me. Finding a nice kit or even front lip is nearly impossible.

Only happens to 1% of the population. Granted only 30k E9xers were produced. Same goes for subie ringlands, evo trans, Porsche bearings, g35 motors had terrible oil consumption.

Glad your brother got the N55 instead because the N54 is the most unreliable BMW engine.

People that complain about Germans cars sucking are the people that have high miles with no extended warranty imo. All cars have defects. Just German maintenance is expensive.

We all know the G is a great all around car. Can't say that about the new Q.

That is a weird justification

I had an 03 G35 coupe from 03-07- had very little issues.. just minor stuff that I was **** about (rattles etc)
I did not have the oil consumption issues in the G35- and I revved that engine a lot! I personally think it was the way people broke in those engines.
I always change all fluids after the first 1500 miles.
I vary throttle for the first 1200 miles avoiding redlining until then. but I digress

I had an 08 G37 Same thing as above- no issues except having to replace the cats (I think it was bad gas because we replaced them in both cars we owned at the same time).
I have a 12 G37- so far so good.
Along similar lines- we have an '05 Pathfinder that we bought in '04. We've only had to take it to the dealership for two issues outside of regular maintenance. Its been so reliable that my wife refuses to replace it (Im want her to so I don't feel bad about getting another new car before her lol) .

Nissan/ Infiniti has generally made reliable vehicles and the problems that are typical of the brand are usually comparatively lower in expense and severity to that which is typical of BMW as well as other German brands.
Anecdotally it seems that Audi is the most reliable German brand right now.

how so? Human nature to complain if it's $$ out of your pocket. If it's warrantied why would you care? Most are 2nd hand owners. More than 90% lease german cars.

Most people who drive high mileage BMW's or Mbenz do not get extended warranty due to the high cost. Not like elite infiniti warranty which is affordable.

03 was the DE. The rev up HR motors was the oil burning motor. Generally reliable I can agree. Nissan is the 2nd least reliable out of the jap car companies. I do have to say my dad's pathfinder just crossed 250k and he'll drive it till it dies although he has a new highlander.
If you think Audi/VW is the most reliable brand you are clueless. They are the worst. Go look at the 2.0T problems. Carbon, diverter valve, timing chain, etc I can go on. The 4.2L engine is the worst V8 engine to be produced.

Bc to me it sounds like ur saying German cars are good with warranty and low miles. Imo that doesn't make a car good. In that case all cars are good with low miles and warranty

It's very subjective on what you want to spend your $$ on. and yes you never NEVER buy a high mileage turbocharged german car without having a rainy day fund set up. NA german cars are more reliable like my E92.

If you believe that a good car has to be a car that last, you probably never owned/driven a high performance car. You have to pay to play. You can't mix performance with reliability.

I have the 2.0T I'm my wife's current vehicle. Water pump went out and just spent $2500 fixing multiple oil leaks related to timing cover. And she's at 44k miles. They also have timing chain tensioner issues.

There's a whole lot more that can gonwrongneith the E92 than just rods. Horrible gearbox housing design, throttle actuators that all fail, the list goes on. A car should not be a devastating financial risk to own outside of a warranty. Having owned more than one German car, I'll never do so again.

I never really understood the rivalry of BMW and Infiniti until today. I was at lunch and this bone stock 335xi coupe was cruising by me with his hand out with a thumbs down gesture. I thought to myself what an arrogant child, what kind of car guy purposefully disrespects someone else's car, especially a clean, tastefully modded version like mine. Not sure where the debate is since their interior/exterior is plain and simple like its always been. Guess it just really pushed my buttons but, I hate them now lol..

LOL typical dbag bmw driver. I'm not trying to battle here for I owned 3 Nissans. My G for 8 years solid, my maxima was a piece of sh*t problems all the time(I had the 1st gen 3.5DE which was terrible) Over the 8 years I've been part of this forum, I can't tell you how many people switched over to a 3 series. The same people telling BMW sucks switching over. True double standards

Clueless? ok buddy lets see...

1) The DE motor was engine known to have the oil consumption issues. If you think not then you are clueless. That knowledge is so common that I will let you put forth the effort to do a search. Since it seems you otherwise speak off the cuff I would really recommend that on all your replies going forward.

2) I didn't say that Audi was the most reliable brand but I will let you read this then you can get back to me.

and here is a summary

If you don't think that is anecdotal evidence to indicate that Audi is the most reliable German brand then you are clueless. Or maybe you just read my post wrong. In which case I would recommend that you work on your reading comprehension prior to making a smart *** reply

If you want to believe this consumer report as a bible on reliability I have no comment. It ranked Toyota as 8 and VW as 15 but audi/vw share the same engine? LOL

Go get some hard facts like industry OEM part sales, warranty sales, aftermarket sales then come back to me other than this BS report because you're clueless. I work in the automotive sector and is privy to this kind of info.

Oh and this my 3.5 max did burn oil but never ate that much. My rev up g35 blew up from oil consumption while doing the test.
