Trying to decide
I'm in the market for either a g37s or g35. The only thing holding me back from the g37s is the higher price. Are they worth the extra money? The only thing holding me back from a g35 is the brake problems I've read about. Are the brakes really that bad? Can anyone give me some insight into this?
Thank you
Thank you

No, the brakes aren't that bad and shouldn't be the thing that your purchase hinges on.
If you can find a clean lower mile G35 that wouldn't be a bad idea.
You could source an 08 G37 coupe, this would get you the lowest price G37 but still get you the bigger Akebono brakes.
Upgrading your G35 w/ new improved rotors and better brake pads should be fine for a spirited daily driver.

^ i agree on the age and in general higher maintenance costs associated with an older vehicle.
however, the power gains from G35 to G37 are not a significant difference even if the numbers suggest otherwise. depending on which G35 the OP is looking at, it will come rated at between 280-298 hp. so yes, up to 50 hp on paper. but the G37 is heavier and the power gains are mostly high up in the rpm band.
i came from a G35 and have commented several times how i felt the G35 to be quicker around town, off the line, etc. i shifted at lower rpm in the G35 whereas i need to stretch out the G37 a bit more to keep pace. could be due to the weight gain, not sure. the G37 does get better range and fuel economy though.
to the OP - just be sure to get a solid car and have it checked out. in general the G35/G37 are solid and reliable cars, but a car nearing 10 years old will have maintenance needed. still, i'd rather have a solid '06-'07 G35 than the cheapest '08 G37 i could find. and if you found a sweet G35 6MT with the 298hp rev-up in it and 19" Rays all the better. that is still a great looking car without too much techy stuff to break. there were oil consumption issues with some of the rev-ups but that would have shown up by now.

If you could find a bone stock G35 fully loaded with everything. Go for it.
I miss the RAS, Pop-up navi and the exhaust tone. RAS made a huge difference. To bad no one wanted to pay extra for it.
Which is why originally Infiniti lumped in the DAS on the Touring package for the Q50 instead of making it a stand alone option.
The good thing about the G37 is bluetooth for audio streaming.
I'm not sure but I could have sworn there is more room on the G35 rear seat... The G37 does not fit anyone 5'10" and above. My G35 did for some reason. It was a long time ago so I'm not sure.

Find an 06-07 G35 with pretty low miles/clean...add brembos from an earlier year G or Z, you'll be better off than a g37 minus some tech upgrades.
I have driven a G37 many a times and have yet to find the worth of the price difference. Probably biased but I still say the 35 looks better overall, although I do like the sport front end.
However, if you're looking for something with more power potential, find something that has a stock turbo...few bolt ons and a tune and you're easily almost 350-400 to the wheels with no internal upgrades needed until over 500.

^^No biased at all lol.. If you owned a G37, your view would be completely different. My roommate has a 35 and I have a 37. The interior is night and day better, the body lines are far more sexy, especially the headlights and taillights and the pop-up nav looks like Super Nintendo on the 35.. I drove a 35 sedan when I was in high school, over 10 years ago and loved it but man, there have been major upgrades.
As for performance, there's a red G35 6 speed coupe in our Z car club with EVERY bolt on, head work and tune and when I was bone stock, I would pull 2-3 cars on him before he gave up, every time. A stock 37 is MUCH faster than the g35 with mods, cant imagine stock..

dont forget they changed hp rating standards at some point so i think the g35 would rate at less hp "technically" i dont recall the details. the g35 coupe tail lights are sexier then the g37 lights tho lol

Bad news is we're next. Prices come down and so does age of ownership.

Looks are subjective tho.
