Gtr start button mod help

Anyone had experience with the stock one not coming out with ease?

Following the DIY AND IT's impossible to push it outwards. Doesnt even nudge.
Afraid if I use a flathead to pry it a little, it'll break.

Any tips?

Thanks all.

Having same problem. I think it's glued or painted if it's your first time. I kind of give up. Shame. Another person said they took the bottom panel out, remove couple screws and brace and found access easier.

I'm thinking it's glued tight as well.
Hate to take the panel out though hoping I don't need to do that however.
Got such a nice modded one to give up

Wink

Mine was very tight as well. Super tight I was afraid I was going to break it, but I still yanked that SOB out and got it installed. Phewwww! It was a great relief.

Tight as fvck, managed to yank that bitch out.

oh, mine had a little bit of glue.. Idk why. I cleaned it off though.

If you're going to use a screwdriver wrap the tip lightly in tape to keep from accidentally scratching everything up, or better yet pick up a set of plastic panel/trim/molding tools from HF or local auto part store. They make life much easier and you'll find all sorts of uses for them.

Also sometimes taking more things apart for better access is faster than fighting with it trying to use brute force. If you accidentally mess something up you'll kick yourself for not taking the extra time or care. (I've learned this the hard way a couple times in past cars!) Good luck!

I saw this video after I did a swap on mine. It's shows pretty much where you need to press. Definitely won't break it, if you're pushing it in the right spot

I'm not even sure if I'm doing it right anymore, in the gtr g37 swap video the guy mentions to"push the brown ribbed clip." Is this correct? I'm pushing it really hard in with an eyeglass screwdriver and now it's pushed all the way in. Shouldn't the button pop out immediately or do you have to push brown rib clip and try to slide the whole button off??

You need to push the brown clip and pop the entire button out. Tape up the end of a flathead screwdriver and put some force into it. You most likely have some glue on it so jerk it around a few times but give it a little more force each time so you can start to lossening up the glue. After the glue is loosened up a bit the entore button should pop out.

And what's the method to pop button out use the flathead to push button in and push it towards the wheel??

You can just push it back in with your thumbs. You won't need a flathead for that part.

So I think I lost a tooth lol.. J/k but I push that MFer and the harness was loose and the freakin button won't come out so I try to pry it really hard and the button shot me in the mouth. Lesson learned. . . Wear a helmet with visor.
