i know where the OP is coming from. i had an '04 6MT sedan before my '09 6MT sedan. there is no question the G37 pulls harder as the rpms climb. but i'd be willing to bet that the g35 was quicker off the line - it certainly felt much more torquey around town. the g35 was 200-300lbs lighter and had very similar torque stats. i think the gearing is the same.

i find that i have to raise my shift point to 2500-3000rpms with the g37, where i almost always shifted below 2500 rpm in the g35 during relaxed or routine acceleration. and when i'm in gear at low rpm and hit the gas there is quite a delay before power builds with the g37 - and then the 'torque swell' hits at close to 3k rpms and things pick up. but with the g35 it was more responsive down low in the rpm range.

i'm sure some of this is hard to measure (i.e. butt dyno-ish) but i do notice the difference. perhaps my aftermarket exhaust system is softening the torque down low in favor of high-rpm power, but i have sometimes wondered if something is wrong with my ride when i nail the gas in 2nd gear at 1500rpms to cross an intersection, etc. an ECU reset can help a little bit, but not much and not for long.

I also agree down low the g35 is a bit more touchy but doesn't feel any faster. My roommate has a G35 sedan and when I drive it, his throttle is night and day more sensitive to react but my butt-dyno says its obviously slower overall.
