Changed starter button.. car just clicks...

So I need some advice.. I've swapped the starter buttons quite a few times and never run into this issue. I was putting in my old button since I resolved an issue with the clutch interlock switch.
I put the old button back in and the car either clicks, or doesn't do anything. Even the windows won't automatically roll up when I close the door. I'm going to eat lunch and think on it.. and I'll probably do a battery reset.. anyone else run into this issue and can offer advice or a solution? Thanx

well i'm buying a new battery.. the voltage on the battery was only reading 9 volts.. if it's something beyond that, as all the fuses look good, then I'm at a loss.

nothing electrical is working though with the battery attached which has me irked. the horn, key fob, alarm.. even the push button to release the trunk (where my tools happen to be) will not work.. the car is just electrically dead

**edit** it was just the battery thankfully.. who knew it would just die on me like that.. maybe a cell died. thanx for looking
