LOL - Rep says my clutch is good, dash cam says I got a new one!

So I brought my Coupe in for an oil leak which turns out to be a bad Slave Cylinder / CSC tube.

Rep says my original clutch was good and nothing is wrong with it. They only pulled it out to see if oil got into it.

But my dash cam recorded a different story? Tech test drove the car and pulls into the back of the dealership and says "you're gonna have fun in this car. I just in a new clutch and the car only has 2800 miles on it".

Good to see he didn't do any burn outs. He did take off fast at one point cause the paper on the dash to fly out. He did a 0-55......

* invest in a dash cam!

edit: Work order mentions nothing about a new clutch.

My dash cam is being delivered today... Gonna get it installed next week.
If I had one when I got rear ended, the claim would have been reso in 1 week instead of 5
In addition, idiots are being cloned/ reproduced in the millions and are being dispatched onto highways, auto centers and parking lots all over the world

I'm in agreement with your service writer. If no fluid violated the friction disc, why replace it. They pulled off the pressure plate to examine the friction disc. Saw no stains or other signs of fluid damage so replaced the cover and called it a day. A car with 2800 miles is barely even broken in. No reason to replace the clutch unless it's consumed or damaged.

Edit: Maybe the tech was referring to the clutch slave, not the disc itself.... Some of these tech are not the brightest when it comes to documentation.

Just wondering. Are there any laws about recording people on private property without their consent?

To best debate this, please start a new thread. This one is about failed slaves and clutches...

Actually the thread could go either way since its primarily regarding what was caught by the dash cam including how the car was driven. But agree that there is already a thread regarding the legalities of such

Maybe I should post a note on the steering wheel to inform them along with the "No Car Wash"?

I prefer to keep it on the down low though. That's why I did the clean install to hide all the wires.

----------

Or, I can just disable the audio recording when I drop of my car for service.

6mt is the only way to go for me. My loaner car was another Q50. (I leased one before I got the Q60). It's not as fun.

I'm sure a lawyer could chime in on the legality of the note but you could also consider just telling them about the device. If they don't consent to being recorded I would be suspect of their reason(s) why. If there is nothing shady going on there shouldn't be any reason to worry about being recorded.
