2.5 inch exhaust . Questions

Tomorrow I'm getting my new 4 and. Half inch tips out on and the inlet is 2 and a half. Instead of stock 2 and a quarter . And right now I literally don't have a muffler and the flanged are the end of the exhaust. They are originally gonna cut back skittle to make everything fit, would it be a exhaust note difference if I did 2 and a half from the cats all the way back??? Or no

The stock exhaust can get even smaller than 2.25in at certain points. The Y pipe is very restrictive.

Are you saying that you have no muffler? You just have the mid pipes and then nothing else?

Are you going to remove the stock cat back (meaning the y pipe and the mid pipes) and have a 2.5in cat back built?

A full 2.5in exhaust is going to sound louder than stock yes. The exhaust tone will be deeper.

Before the muffler is the cats? Right? To make it easier . What ever is before the muffler. From after that point I wanna go full 2.5 inch straight pipe. But keeping cats , resonator and y pipe and ****. Just have a full 2.5 in straight pipe muffler from what ever is before the mufflers. If that makes sense. ONLY if it will a different better tone from the stock pipe size that's already there.
So like is it worth cutting back alittle more

Your exhaust is laid out in this order: Engine -> Headers -> Cats -> Y-Pipe -> Mid Pipes -> Muffler.

If you want to replace your muffler with 2.5in or even 2.25in straight pipes then it will sounds very very loud. I drove my car without mufflers for an hour while replacing my exhaust and did not like the sound.

OK so then if I did 2.5 in straight from the mid pipe . Will that sound better ? Remember. As of now I just have it from the flanges of the muffler to out the back. Which isn't alot. Because the inlets of my tips are 2.5. So itll.be 2.5. But the guy said he is just cutting the flanges alittle back so it's easier to get the tips out the back easier. But If he is already cutting alittle bit. I just want to know if it's worth cutting it back all the way to the mid pipe then.
What's the size of the stock pipes??

Okay, the pipes immediately after the muffler are the mid pipes.

Your guy is saying he wants to cut those?

He should be able to make 2.5 inch muffler delete pipes with a flange that bolt directly to those.

Look up AAM Short Tail exhaust. They are exactly what you are wanting.

He was just cutting the flanges alittle back because he said it'll be easier to get the pipes out the back since you need to bend them. But I figured if he is cutting could he just cut all the way to the resonators? Which I'massuming what those two things are there lol. Does the mid pipe house the resonators

But he doesnt have to cut the flanges. I think he's just being lazy. If he knows what he is doing he can just make you the muffler delete pipes with flanges that bolt up to the mid pipes.

Yeah. But will it make a difference in sound if I go while 2.5 in straight pipe from mid pipe to muffler??

No. 4 inches of pipe is not gonna make a difference. Make it 2.5 inches and have him build you muffler delete pipes that bolt up to the mid pipes.

That's the original plan. Just 2.5 in pipes where the muffler was. I thought thought if it went back alittle farther to the mid pipe it would make a difference

The inlet for the tips are 2.5 . Is it even possible to go 3 in? Or is it impossible to fit it
