Horn Sound change/muffled?

Hey All,

I took my 2012 G37xS coupe to the car wash today and this afternoon, I noticed my horn sounded different. Any chance the car wash damaged the horn system?

When I lifted the engine hood, I can only hear the horn from the diver side, near the front bumper. Is there suppose to be a horn on the passenger side as well?

If I had to described what changed, I would say the intensity of the sound decreased by 50% and the pitch also seem to sound higher. I know this isnt normal, but what could have happened?

How do I fix this? Take it to the dealer?

Thank you all in advance!

The low tone horn could have come disconnected somehow, you'll likely need to remove the bumper to take a look though.

Oh man, if that is the problem, its covered under warranty right? Also, do the g37 have 1 or 2 horns? Meaning, is the low tone a separate horn or do one horn play two tones?

the G37 is a two tone horn. Most likely one came unplugged or is malfunctioning.

Don't do the hella horns - just my .02/firstperson account.

But to answer your question, yes there's 2 horns. 1 low and 1 high

Thanks everyone. I got it fixed.

Apparently, the system was malfunctioning for the low tone.

Well, my "Low Tone" horn died again. I realized now that the two times that my low tone horn died was right after my car wash. My car wash also include undercarriage wash. Could this be the culprit?

Also, regardless of the undercarriage wash, shouldnt the low tone horn be water proof or water resistant? I am thinking if they are not, wont every thunder storm or hard rain knock the low tone horn out?

In regards to this issue, do you guys think this is more of a connection issue? perhaps the wiring or some link is getting dislodge due to the car wash?

i would hope an undercarriage wash doesnt kill G37's, because mine will get a bunch this winter to get the salt off. maybe its extremely high pressure?

Yeah, I am hoping that wouldnt kill the G37 too. The low tone horn from what I know is mounted lower than the high tone.

Any idea if this low tone horn can be relocated?

i plan on Plastidipping the red frame to black on some Supertones (for steathiness), and placing them behind the grille for max impact.
