Ugh... Sad Day...

Well... I managed to scrape my driver side fender and bumper backing into my garage. Cleared my mirrors and then tried to straighten out and clipped it....

Looks like they'll need to pop that dent out of the fender and patch the bumper/respray it.

Gonna try and take it to the body shop on Tuesday and see what they say. I'm hoping they can take care of it for ~700 bucks. My deductible is $500 but I'd rather just take a small hit and not have my rates go up.

Always sucks to ding up your ride, doesn't look to bad though, but those body shop charges add up in a hurry.
G/L w/ the repair.

Insurance is such a scam, rates shouldn't go up because of a claim. It's such crap. Sorry man. :/

sucks... take advantage of the downtime if you can..
perhaps filling in those license plate holder holes... painting the grille.. headlamps.. etc

as far as insurance... rates should not go up if the fault is not yours but understand the idea behind raising it if its yours..

It's a comprehensive repair, not collision. Your rates don't go up. And if they do, well then you should change your insurance company to someone who takes better care of their customers.

I was under the impression that comprehensive repairs are usually no fault to the owners, like a tree branch falling or a cracked windshield. Wouldn't this count as collision since I swipped the garage?

Also good news, a new fender is only 291 shipped. OEM too. My buddy has a body guy that said to call him for a reasonable paint quote. Hoping to move forward and get it fixed this week or next.

Maybe if you rewrite insurance law. You hit a starionary object, even a road hazard sitting in the middle of a highway, it is a collision claim. Comp claim is vandalism or a projectile in mid air (even a couch) hitting yout baby. It has to be "no fault" to be comp, so hitting a moving car due to your own fault (as well as a garage wall that jumps out in front of you), the claim is always collision.

Lesson over.

The garage came out of nowhere. I swear to god.

Also, first quote came in for repair and paint at $1092. Not terrible. About what I expected. Gonna call a few more places.

Lol. It's okay, stuff happens I'm just glad I can fix it.

Side note: this happened like an hour after I returned home from helping my Mom buy her new car. Everyone at the dealership commented on how clean my car was

This is what we got my Mom. It's fully loaded and had 33k on it . She traded in an M35s.

Yeah, I took her to test a G37x and an M35x because they recently moved up near me in Colorado from Florida and she wants AWD. She liked the G but I told her she should check out the EX.

Found one to test drive on Saturday that turned out to be a complete base model and fortunately the malbec black one we bought had been traded in the night before. Tested that one and she fell in love.
