One major thing to be weary of when purchasing or looking at g37's produced before 2012 (they upgraded the gasket material...see the later pages in the thread.)

https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-cou...xperience.html

This is where buying an authentic Infiniti warranty for peace of mind can pay off... as well as getting an oil pressure test to confirm the pressure is within normal operating spec's under load and at idle.

Yes... These paper gaskets were used in VQ's prior to the g37 and is widely documented on g35driver (lot's of commentary from Infiniti master tech's as well as pictures/repair invoices being shared).

Cause for the dreaded P0011/P0021 codes that everyone is curious about - G35Driver

50 to 60k miles is almost a brand new car.

My previous 06 G35 6sp when I traded it in had 53 oil changes and still ran like new

What you have to be very careful of is making sure the vehicle was never involved in an accident or in a flood.

Spend the $150- $200 to have any vehicle you are considering inspected by an Infiniti dealer and have them run the VIN number and give you a complete written report similar to the written report a home inspector provides for a home purchaser.

Personally I would never purchase a used car. My first car purchase was used and I've regretted it all my life. I should have listened to my father when he advised me not to purchase it.(RIP Dad)

Good luck

Haha not my car, i screenshotted it from the VQ Nation page on facebook. The guy said only major service he had done was replacing the valve covers. All normal maintenance done per timing.

New cars are about the worst items to buy investment wise. I don't care if you get 0% financing. Cars are depreciating assets and brand new cars loose their value a lot fast than a older vehicle. Finicially speaking a car 2-3 years old is usually the best to buy from a finical/economic standpoint

If you know what your doing and know what to look for (or have help) buying a used car can be just as comfortable and easy as a new car.

I would have to agree. Think about a brand new G37 fully loaded. It would probably run over $40k. Three years later with low mileage, it's on the market for less than $25k.

By the way, are there any issues with rust with this car? I've owned a '99 and '02 Maxima and they both had signs of rust, particularly in the side sills, and fenders area.

Have to say I agree. While it would be nice to buy a new car and not have to deal with the nicks and scratches from the previous owner, you just save so much money waiting 2-3 years. I got my 2012 X Coupe with 32k miles fully loaded back in February and after taxes, title, and all the rest drove it home for 26k. Quite the step up from an 01 Firebird and not a bad deal either
