Start-up Lag on 2008 G37 (w/video)

My car has this hiccup/lag when starting it....

I have had the TSB done, and still it happens.

I don't drive alot, about 10-15 miles daily. When i get home around 5pm, usually the car will stay off until the next morning. IF I go about 1-2weeks like this, the car gets worse. Then if I have a 1-2 hour trip somewhere, it seems like the battery gets a new charge...

THe video has about 4 days of startups.....Let me know any ideas/thoughts

Really odd, how old is your battery? My car (also 08) slow starts some times (as if it has a poorly charged battery), but the dash lights dont flicker and the tach doesnt lag like that.

What tsb has been done?

Yeah...that sounds and looks like it's putting quite the drain on the battery, battery not holding full charge, or the connection to the battery is compromised. Maybe check that the battery cables are on nice and snug too and not corroded.

This is the TSB that has been done http://www.infinitig37.com/TSB/1ST34.pdf

When i take it to the dealer, they do see that the battery has a low charge. They have replaced it once, other times they see that its low, so they just recharge it...

My car is now out of warranty, but this issue is really annoying.

That's definitely related to the starting system/circuit. Check the voltage from the alternator to the battery with the engine running, it should be between 13.5v - 14.00v give or take. How long has it been since they replaced the battery? Also, what's the condition of the serpentine (accessories) belt?

went to the Glendal Infiniti dealer...took this video in...they seen it.... had the Service Manager see it, and they took care of it....

They reset the ECM, which was what the TSB asked for, but i kept the same battery.

I'll keep you guys posted

they would always tell me it was my battery. They would recharge it, and couple months later it would go back to the same thing.... Not until i brought in this video did they reset the ECM, and with the same battery, it turns on quickly..no more stutter....for now

OP, there's also a thread posted here discussing how the alternator starts charging the battery after the first six miles of a drive. Would that be something to consider?

Yes I agree

Before the ecm reset the car would perform better after long road trips. However I don't think cars operate that way. I don't drive far for work, and I don't drive much.

Nonetheless, after the reset, the slow crank is not there. And I have increased/decreased the drive time.... So I think this has worked
