Just sayin' it's in the manual ... and yes I read it (minus all the warning boxes) but don't have Nav.

I do have to say that I've read the manual along with how to fill the gas (though the cap holder is something I look for independently). The reason I read how to fill gas is because I had the doors locked at home and wanted to see how to open the fuel filler door and couldn't. i had no idea why, so I then unlocked the doors and couldn't find a fuel door lever anywhere. So I had to read the manual to find out that now that the doors were unlocked, I could open it. Hmmm...rereading the above, I think I need to bone up on my writing. Just does't look right.

This does not apply to us in Oregon (or NJ) who can't pump their own gas.

It still applies when someone has a gasoline vapor infused gas cap getting banged and rubbed against their paint (assuming they care about their paint) especially by someone pumping their gas that doesn't care one lick about the car they're filling up. Whether they have anything they can do about that is another question.

Judging by the number of pictures I've seen with the cap hanging against the side of the car, apparently it is.

Yes, it can cause damage. Over time, gasoline can eat through the clearcoat/paint and cause rust to form. It doesn't help that our cars have notoriously weak paint. This won't happen overnight, but it is definitely a possibility over time. Ever see a car with rust around the gas door? This is what causes it. Just start using the cap hook now and you'll be fine.

I suppose so. I assumed it was just a lack of caring since every car I've ever put gas in has had a place to rest the cap.

Lessons from this to take away to the work world: Everything should be labeled, even if it appears to be common sense. Training is required. lol

Good point. I didn't take that into consideration, I figured it was a lack of knowing not a lack of caring.

Thanked. I remember thinking before that it was a cool feature some of my friends' cars had with the cap holder and I wished I had one lol
