+1

And aftermarket is an interesting animal and I don't think without the Z we will see many Q owners willing to modify their vehicles. Transmission swaps is almost always too expensive I have never heard of a Z or g37 retrofitted with a DCT. We are talking about retrofitting a DCT which will cost at least 10K+ without the labor.

i would guess that less than 5% of G37 owners mod their car. practically every Infiniti driver i see on the streets is north of 55 years old.

they would lose a lot of MONEY if they spent the time to research and develop products exclusive to the Q50/Q60 that only a small handful of enthusiasts will buy.

There's already a driver who had a Fast intentions cat back and down pipes making 40 extra HP and TQ. Dealers are already modding cars before sale in terms of debadging, paint, midnight grills, people have already spent time cracking the ECU to increase HP of the 300 hp model to do red sport numbers, bigger turbos are always available, etc modding is already well under way. If the market can provide the mod there will be people who do it

there will be some, but it will be extremely sparse ... and i will guess very pricey due to not selling in WRX/Mustang/Honda amounts.

exactly my point - its a very limited market. i have seen about 2 modded G37's since i bought mine, and i live near a large Infiniti dealer. its all silverheads.

Shepherd Transmissions Inc. aka sheptrans.com, were the ones who developed the AMS GTR's transmission. If they could do it for the Q60 it would be other worldly. But I guess it might not happen if the driver market is not there. but you can say who is crazy enough to spend money on upgrading their already powerful 545 HP stock Nissan GTR to an AMS aftermarket one? But AMS put it out there and people have gone for the upgrade package tranny, turbos, and all

I'm not gonna lie but I've always thought that the skyline/infiniti coupes look much more smoother and elegant than the Nissan GTR, it would be nice if they had that aftermarket capability as well

You are comparing entirely different markets. A GTR was considered to be an affordable supercar. The keyword here is "supercar". So the audience is not people who want affordable sporty cars or sporty luxury cars. If you are buying a GTR you will be taking it to a track. Now someone who tracks will want to upgrade his vehicle and if there is an affordable chance of making it faster than the 500K+ cars he may take it. AMS prices are not cheap, they are custom building stuff and putting a hefty premium because number of customers are low but good paying customers.

Nissan also tries not to blur the line between GTR and their mainstream offerings. That is understandable. However limiting a 3liter TT to 300hp so that they can sell a factory tuned 400hp version for more is not good practice.

well that's the point of the aftermarket, it gives you a chance to enhance your car further than what the stock engineering is providing.

Level 10 also makes bulletproof transmission. But it's not worth it. You really gonna spend 10k+ just for a transmission upgrade on a New car that is still under warranty?

... and the Q60 isnt going to have many aftermarket offerings ... unless the Z gets a TT.

i'd be fine with 400hp. if i can buy a Cobb Accessport or similar for ~$600 and get a little more, sure. i wouldn't be swapping out turbos and whatnot on a Q60, though. it would be my daily driver and i dont feel like jacking around with reliability and my warranty anymore. guess im gettin old.

Yea I remember I read an article about a guy who wanted to twin turbo his g37 but there was no aftermarket support for it. And then the Z came out and there was a twin turbo setup for the VQ being offered. Since they put the g37's engine in the Z, he used the kit to upgrade his G37.

I think that sucks though.

And is it worth it? Ask the guys who spent 10k adding two turbos to their cars. They will say it was worth it. It improves the driving experience.
