I see you came to the same conclusion that I did. This was clearly written by a 14 year old in his parents' basement. One who doesn't know how to write, proofread, use photoshop, or lie very well. Either that or they scooped the big boys like Autoblog, MT, Jalopnik, and every other reputable source of auto journalism and got some "source" to give them "rumors" and "reports" (all unnamed of course) of details that nobody else has. Even info on as yet unrevealed details on the next GTR's hybrid power plant and the diesel 4 cylinder version for Europe. Either that or they're throwing stuff against the wall and probably some of it will stick. Yeah, I'm going to go with that.

If you look at the history of time, you will see that the G coupe has ALWAYS shared the same engine as the Z. This only means the next Z will also get this twin turbo 3.0 . I have strong feeling they will put 400 horses in the Z.

The thing is, Nissan has partnered with Mercedes. Mercedes CLA AMG makes 354HP. Their brand new C450 AMG makes 362HP and 384TQ out of what? Exactly a 3.0L twin turbo. Nissan HAS to best the performance of the Benz, even though they are partners, they are STILL competitors.

Bottom line, 375HP out of their new TT 3.0L will stand above the rest, and still keep plenty of room between the 400HP Z and the future IPL/Eau Rouge variants of the Q60, which will exceed 550HP+
I've actually been considering and researching the C450 but now I think I'll wait for this to come out. I thought I should just point out that the C450 is an 'AMG Sport' not a true AMG. It's basically just a sportier version of the C400 with some tweaks from AMG. The actual C class AMG is the C63 AMG which puts out 469HP and 479 ft/lb torque from a twin turbo 4.0 V8. I've test driven the C400 which has the twin turbo 3.0 V6. It's a nice engine with no turbo lag and makes peak torque at 1850 rpm. I wouldn't mind seeing this engine in the Q60

—let me rephrase. Going forward, will the even-numbered products mean something different than the odd-numbered ones [like BMW's 3- and 4-series, and Audi's A4/A5]?

No. Q is a passenger vehicle and a QX is an SUV or crossover. The numerical part of the nomenclature will simply reflect where the model sits in the segment hierarchy in the market. There's no reason why we couldn't have a Q65 or a Q67 or Q66. Perfectly logical.

What's the status on Eau Rouge?

Good question. There is no status. There is no decision not to build it, and no decision to build it. The fundamental issue at the moment is purely a question of time and engineering resource allocation. As soon as Roland [Kruger] gets his feet on the ground, I'm sure he'll make some firm decisions on how that product does. At the moment, the critical thing is to make sure that we get products on the market that will deliver volume and profit to the dealers, and address the need of the consumer base. Here's a really good example to underline that: Since the G35 was launched-G35, G37, and the Q60 coupe as we currently have it-there have been 170,000 cars sold. Ostensibly, that's been the same model since 2002, except for the upgrade and power, and so on. We have a huge owner base out there that, on the whole, is extremely happy with their cars, but haven't been given an opportunity to upgrade. We'll have a lot more potential and get a lot more out of putting Q60 into the market than getting an Eau Rouge into the market.

Good article. Thanks for sharing. Looks like they are finally serious about branding.

I like what I see so far in the Q60 concept and look forward to what it will look like/offer in final production. Hope Infiniti doesn't screw up a good thing.

What I hope doesn't make it:
  • Quilted seats, look tacky IMO
  • Exhaust seems too busy, needs to be toned down
  • Not a fan of the front bumper splitters, in their current form
  • Not a fan of the ridge in the top of the hood

What remains to be seen (can it compete?):
  • Power output (hp and more importantly torque @ rpm)
  • Will DCT transmission be offered?
  • Structural rigidity; will the car be stiffer and handle better?
  • Weight; will it weigh less, more or stay roughly the same?
  • Performance; can it finally compete and/or exceed the performance of its BMW, Audi, Mercedes etc. counterparts?

Go sit in the S6 and bask in the glory of its quilted seats. If done right it could be a hit. The previous gen contrast stitching was ahead of its time for cars in that price range.
Body work won't make - especially the carbon fiber bits.
It will not have a DCT - where would the get one? the GTR has a transaxle DCT which is supposedly getting replaced because its to clunky even by DCT standards.
Its still being built on the Q60 platform so there's no expected large weight loss.

The last Ferrari I sat in had quilted seats. I think it definitely adds some sex appeal.

So I started a New Facebook Group page for the Q60 (V37 Coupe). Post news, pics, thoughts, ect on the new Coupe. You can post stuff about future Nissan and Infiniti products as well as your current ride.

Looking for admins. If any one wants to be an admin hmu, in the mean time spread the word. There are a few pages dedicated to Infinitis and Nissans but lately have lot of spam/trollers/problem starters that do not contribute. The goal is to have a site were none of that exists.
