Got the reservation email + gift offer email yesterday, tempted to get one this year rather than waiting out the first year model.
Yeah, I got the reservation email also. Very tempting! However, I told myself I would hold onto my current G for one more year before I trade in. Must resist the urge, lol!
I'll reserve final judgement until i see one in person...some pics look awful, some look great...but I really dislike all of the chrome and the black "vents" on the rear bumper. The chrome can be dipped or covered with vinyl, but i can't think of any way to get rid of the vents on the rear bumper. I saw a blue Q50 Red Sport at the dealer on Friday and it looked sportier and more aggressive than this new Q60.
I agree... this is the first white car that I looked at and thought I would consider getting that in white over black (which is usually my favorite).
Seeing it in person however will be the decision maker for me.
This car looks good in both black or white, but both colors are so dang hard to keep clean, lol! Black is very tempting, but since I plan on getting black leather with black headliner, that may be a little too much with the heat here, lol, although it would look pretty sweet.
So I think I am leaning towards Graphite Shadow or the dark horse, Iridium Blue.
Like you, seeing them in person will decide which color I end up with!
Some more eye candy.
Still baffled at the lack of thigh bolster extensions
I'm hoping there will be a DIY mod for fixed position paddles too
Looks very nice, good stance. Liking the carbon fiber interior option! The seats look like they have a good amount of torso support.
I also noticed that they moved the paddles to the wheel, similar to the GT-R. I am sure I will be able to get use to it, but I'm use to them being on the steering column like my current G.
Dropping the thigh bolsters was a mistake IMO. As was removing the "Infiniti" stitching from the backrest (which I realize was done late in the G37 production).
Paddles directly on the wheel is where its at. People say its good to just be in the right gear before a turn but with having 7 gears to choose from, you will absolutely shift up or down while powering through some corners.

I agree.. they kept the thigh bolsters in the sedan so I don't know why they dropped it in the coupe.
But my 08 G37 had the Infiniti stitching but my '12 does not.

Yes oftentimes you are needing to shift while the steering wheel is in a turning motion. Having them in a fixed position- you always know where they are. When it is a constantly moving target, you have to default to the floor shifter in those scenarios.
I have driven a few cars with the paddles on the wheel and each time I hated it because I use paddles most when I'm on winding roads
On a road car- with several turns lock to lock- fixed is best IMO. Trying to up or downshift while unwinding lock in a tight turn is annoying.
Perhaps on the track with a race car on the steering wheel is better where the turns are mostly sweeping turns.
I'll have to wait until I can experience it in the flesh, but as of right now, I don't see anything that stands out on this car to make it appealing. Engine? DAS only option? As mentioned no seat extensions? IMO less emphasis on detail? We'll have to see what the price points are on the different models and compare them to the competition.

It will definitely be an adjustment period as I am so use to them being fixed. Hope they still have a good heavy premium feel like the current ones.
