Wow 4,005lbs for the Q50S Red Sport 400 AWD, that does suck. How does that compare to BMW or Mercedes?
As you guys said the coupes have been heavier and slower than the sedans so that stinks. I understand the car has a lot more stuff in it, but I wasn't expecting it to crack 4k.

Idk, unless the coupe uses more lightweight materials and they neglected to put it in the press release. I also noticed that the old gen was closer to 50/50 distribution, now these are 58/42 on some models.

a 2013 G37 Sedan 6MT weighs 3709 pounds
a Q50 Red Sport 400 weighs 3853. The thing gained 144lbs in 3 years.
The only thing saving this Q50 is the 350ft/lbs of torque at 1600rpm.
I wouldnt even bother with that AWD. That thing is a real porker. I would just figure out a way to stuff 305mm Michelin Pilot Supers out back.

4,005 lbs? Suspected as much, as Infiniti has not uttered one word about weight reduction, meanwhile its competitors are flaunting their aluminum frames and carbon fibre all over the place. Infiniti has one last chance to get things right with this coupe, but I'm not holding my breath any longer. I'm not a betting man but I'm willing to say this coupe is gonna be a ...turd
Meanwhile, low-mileage GT-Rs are showing up in the low 60s lately. And generic econo-boxes are already outperforming G's and Q's. Get it together, Infiniti..

LoL. That is definitely some poundage! At that weight I think it would be dumb NOT to get the 400HP model. Of course I would have to drive both to be sure...might get surprised at how well it actually moves

I thought Rc-f weighting almost 4000 lbs was a pig.
If the coupe turns out to be 4000, it will suck hard. What is the point of a tt 3 liter if the car is that heavy when competetion can slap a V8 and still be lighter.
I think when they were working on the engine they forgot the rest. Well at least their 3 liter TT will probably be the best turbo 3 liter engine around.

her eis something fun to check out for all the gear nerds.. Based on what we know about the specs of the current version and the HP of the new version of the Q50 we can guesstimate acceleration
Gear ratios in gears 1-5 are currently :
1: 4.0
2: 3.1
3: 1.98
4: 1.37
5: 1.0
6th/ 7th (doesn't matter for 1/4 mile tests)
Axle 3.35
Torque is pretty linear from 1500 to 6400
350 lbs ft from 1500 to 5200 RPM
At peak HP its 328 ft lbs of torque (@ 6400 RPM)
Redline 6500
weight (roughly 4000 lbs)
With those numbers I went to this site and plugged in the numbers Wallace Racing - Drag Race Simulator
Its pretty fun to play with the numbers.
I come up with 0-60 in 4.8 and quarter mile in 13.0 (shifting in 400 ms)
Obviously the engine will be powerful and the weight is what it is... Really I think that it will all come down to how well they have improved the transmission shifts.

400hp is great and im not a drag racer - im more concerned about how all that extra heft affects handling.
seems like the Q60 is turning from a sports coupe into a porky cruiser ...
