Will axle back exhaust systems pass emission tests?

Anything after the stock CATS they don't care about. CAT back exhaust/muffler enhancements often are only for sound and not engine performance. However you might find a CAT back muffler system designed to also give you better exhaust flow which means breathing, and also good sound. I haven't seen or heard of one for the G37 but I'm sure they're out there. My dealer had a beauty at the parts department for $800. All polished up in stainless steel looking almost like the stock unit which is aluminized steel. I asked what kind of power gain you could get out of it, and he said none. It's mainly for a different sound. Since you really can't see any of this from our cars, then why buy them unless you really want to change the sound of the exhaust. For me the stock sound isn't that bad at all. A little louder maybe when accelerating but not while cruising. I painted my stock unit with high temp. wood stove black paint so people behind the car can't see any of it except those great tail pipes.

most don't care either. The only visual you would have to worry about would be an intake. As far as exhaust, as long as the emissions numbers are kosher you wont run into any issues. However, if you have HFC's (which are illegal in Cali period) you will fail emissions most times and that will red flag and they may do further inspection. I had an aftermarket exhaust on my Galant and never failed a "visual" inspection and it was clearly not a stock exhaust
