Squeaking noise when I go over bumps from steering wheel area

So as I said, when I go over bumps there is a high pitched squeaking noise coming from...almost behind the gauges or inside the steering column.

\My question, has anyone had this happen to them? If so, how did you remedy it.

Also, if not...I assume no one has or very few people...how do I fix it. Can I just spray WD40 behind the gauges from the dash area or under the steering wheel column or could I short something out or cause more damage?

I can't figure out exactly where it's coming from because of it's location and it only happens when I drive.

I hate squeaks and rattle swhen I drive PLEASE HELP AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, I know this is vague

Thank you

I would definitely not recommend spraying anything haphazardly behind the gauges or dash area. There are too many connectors there which could be damaged or shorted.

There are several TSB's addressing rattles around the dash area which are actually coming from the engine compartment. Are you sure you have localized the sound to the steering column?

TSB's?

No I'm not sure it is coming from the steering column. That's what it sounds like and when I put my hand under the steering whell while driving it stops a little. But I did just talk to my master technician and he said to check my aftermarket stuff under the hood. Now that I think about it, I guess it could also be my aftermarket GT-R button. But he also said not to spray anything in that area, just like you said. I thought it was a bad idea, but when I hear sounds like that when I'm driving, I kinda go a little nutty

It sounds like the steering pod is getting torqued, and you can spray a bit of lubricant in there but use silicon spray, not WD 40...

If it sounds like it's coming from where the dash meets the windshield, it's most likely the driver-side cowl that's popping/squeaking. There's a DIY article on this site for it.

I think my 2010 G37x is developing exactly the same squeaky noise from the steering column (behind steering wheel). It only squeaks when the car gets bumped on the road. Noise level is pretty low and not terribly disturbing, but I'd greatly appreciate if there is a way to fix it...

Unfortunately....I haven't found it yet, every time I bring it somewhere it doesn't make the noise with a mechanic in the car lol

I just found another thread and the "lid cluster squeak" seems fits my steering wheel squeaking problem exactly. Even better, the fix seems to be fairly simple and easy:
