How does Pasti Dip hold up on chrome? I'm thinking of doing my grills but want it to last more than a week and not damage the chrome if/when I peel it off.

I was thinking of doing the same - it definitely won't damage the chrome, but I don't want to waste $40 on black+gloss plus a few hours of my time just to have it chip off and need to be redone.

Well I was hoping it wouldn't cost $40, just a can of spray plasti dip and my time. Not going to add shine, leave it matte for the grill. Yeah I would like it to last longer than a week. My concern is I don't want to "prep" the chrome like you would for regular paining (aka sand it) so will the plasti dip stick well enough?

Defiantly holds and when you peal it of there is no damage at all it comes right off. I had to redo my whole grill because I went in the house to eat a sandwich and a damn leaf fell on it and left a print. .

Do about 6 coats of base color and about 4 coats of glossifier... been running my grill this way since I bought the car back in sept. No chips.

Well, I didnt do a lot of prep - just some standard cleaning.
i have a few air cans for keyboard cleaning, so for the hell of it, I blew off everything before I painted.

It's been washed twice since it's been done and it's held up so far - but I believe it needs some time in the sun to "fully cure" (per the Dip Pros on YouTube)

Lessons Learned:
I was painting pretty straight on, only moving the can to cover the top and bottom... the bottoms of the letters are a little sparse, so I am going to re-tape and re-spray.

The "I" is pretty sharp, and the corner apparently was touched (prolly at the shop) so I am going to peel it and paint it again.

I will do two or three more coats than the 3/4ish I did initially.

Information:

Over tape (over cover) as I found overspray on the back window after - so, it carries further than you'd think.

I used the stock red color - it was $5.99 a can at Lowes. I barley used any of the paint.

Hope that helped.
