My Intro 08 G37S Coupe

I guess I'll finally do an intro here. Back in October of 2012 I began my search for a new toy as my 1996 Integra GS-R was becoming a bit less practical for everyday driving. Wanted to return the integra back to a daily driver and get something else for weekends. Considered subi's and evo's but eventually got hooked on the G's. I wanted a 6MT S package black exterior, stone interior, one owner, low miles, no accidents, garage kept. I checked NJ craigslist and one day in July of 2013 something finally came up. The car was exactly what I wanted and had met every one of my demands. I went to call the owner and then realized his phone # was not something I was used to seeing here in NJ. Sure enough, this car that showed up in the NJ craigslist section was actually located in Georgia. I did some homework on the owner and the car itself and decided I was going to take my paint meter, check, and one way flight to Atlanta. The guy picked me up at the airport in his immaculate Mazda3 with 160k on it, this was the first of many good signs. We drove to his house and I still did not see the car, he told me, "we have to dig it out of the garage..." After moving a Ford Bronco project truck and two Harleys we finally were able to back the G out and my jaw hit the driveway. The thing was perfect and completely stock. I taped the entire front end up and headed home to Jersey. Here's some pics of my 2008 S 6MT with 22,000 miles...

Very nice! I picked up my 08 S Coupe just a few weeks ago for my wife to drive. We both love it, even though I'd prefer it had the stock height and stock wheels/tires. I don't like her having to worry about scraping everywhere.

So yesterday I had my new Hankooks installed...........
I bit the bullet and took my car to the dealer because I wanted PERFECTION when it came to mounting and balancing. This meant, I was expecting zero damage/scratches to the wheels. When Ray Catena Infiniti finished they pulled my car up to me and I noticed that each wheel was still covered in the lube used to mount the tires. I had the service rep begin to whip away the residue and immediately realized we had a serious problem. Every single wheel was scuffed and scratched beyond my belief. I took my car there with not a single mark on any wheel before the install. One of the service guys put the blame on me and hit me with the ol, "well how do we know you didnt scratch the wheels before you got here?" To which I replied, "because I took a picture of each wheel with todays newspaper in the dealership parking lot just before dropping it off this morning...if you'd like to zoom on the pictures to view the perfection of each wheel, I'll email them to you and we can take a look on your computer." The guy was baffled beyond words. The service manager ended up resolving the problem by offering to have every wheel sanded and repainted. I guess I'm happy with that resolution because they should look brand new when done. An example of the damage is below. Will post pics of finished wheels next week...

There's been a couple guys interested in filling in the webs on the 18" S wheels w/ black vinyl, you might be just the guy to fill the bill.
It's these wheels and blacking out the inner spokes but leaving the outer spoke silver would give a look similar to the coupe 19s,

If you can get an exact template for the spoke as to what you want, put it on a piece of paper or light cardboard, mail it to me in an envelope, I can ask my friend and see what he would charge. He can refine it on his computer ...I know it will not be too much. The vinyl is pricey but still way less than new wheels.Just e-mail me at temptones1@verizon.net for mailing address if you want me to check it out. He would cut 20 plus 5 extra.....make each spoke one piece on the template...make only one exact piece..
Send a picture of the wheel too.
You wet the wheel with a spray bottle with a bit of dishsoap...Green stuff, mixed in like a Tsp.per quart then you can actually move the vinyl around to set it. I needed 40 and these only need 20 so that's really good. Get a few guys together and you can do a group buy.

That's actually pretty nice looking, looks like a real good job w/ the layout. I wrapped my previous 5 spokers in black and it really transformed the look and they held up really well.

I remember that conversation, and at the time had hacked up an image of what the duckfeet could look like if the web section of the split-spokes were blacked out. Looks relatively easy, actually. Five identically cut pieces of vinyl per wheel, laid down in the web of the spokes. Although the more I look at it, the more concern I have for the downward cut area at the curve. Not sure how well vinyl would stay down.

I'll post a thread over in sedans and see if there's some interest. FWIW the vinyl should have no problem in that curved area, once it's heat sealed it's pretty resilient.
