lesson learned

Not so happy july 4th, I got my first ticket coming back from a fishing trip at 4am and quickly trying to get home to get some sleep. Unforunately, it was a reckless ticket going 80 on 55. On top of that I got another ticket for no fronte license plate. There's no point in whining about it now but defiantly a lesson learned; the lawyer fee+fine that has to be spent could have been my mod money. Just wanted to share so next time anyone speeds, realize the consequence and drive safe everyone. (hope everyone had a better july 4th than me)

I think most of us have had moments like that, but at least there wasn't an accident or worse. I had several "lesson learned" moments in my driving life, and I'm still trying to learn my lesson. It's a work in progress.............

Things could of been worse.

I was a 4th july bbq yesterday. It's not far from the HS where there's a fireworks display after dusk. Most of the town shows up. Parking regulations are strictly enforced. Some poor (read stupid) sap parked too close to the intersection, blocking the sidewalk. In no time did their vehicle get towed. Imagine the shock of returning back to find your vehicle gone.

Invest in a good hidden radar detector.

Lawyers are a waste of money...i have had TONS (20+ over 6 years) of tickets in my past when i had my evo. Tickets ranged from exhaust tickets to speeding tickets and all of which i had appeared in court and represented my self. ALL THE TICKETS with the exception of one were dismissed. Just gotta know how to work the system thats all

Go to court and try to plea it down. Always seems to work. The govt just wants your money and usually u can take a lower if not no insurance point ticket

No need for a lawyer ..... go to court and plead guilty but with an explanation. DON'T BS THE JUDGE, they have heard it all. Just explain the truth, it was late, you were tired and wanted to just get home.

Be respectful and basically admit you F'd up .... Judges are pretty resonable as long as you don't try to BS them. My guess he will reduce the fine and the charge to something more forgiving.

@2008 actually plead no contest... I'm former law though pleading guilty will end up a higher amount vs no contest... no contest will tell the judge your willing to get school yet not admitting guilt... fine is usually dropped in half or more of you ask for school... as long as you qualify though... not a bad ticket but will still be a $150-$250 ticket with school...

But please dont admit guilt... "No Contest"

radar detector's are worthless if they use laser... you need a radar jammer they point it at your car and it detects 0 speed

^^^ This I learned back in 78 when I got my first speeding ticket (lots since unfortunately.) Always take your tickets to court if at all possible and always plead no contest. This is just a rule of thumb. Don't waste your money on a lawyer.

Well this has worked for me twice in two different states .... reduced fine and reduced points. Shows the judge you admit you were speeding (which you were) but you are asking for lienency which most reasonable judges will unless you have a lot of prior tickets (he will ask).

Everyones mileage will vary.
