How rare are 6MT IPLs?
I'm hoping to buy a G later this year, and I'm hoping I can find a 6MT IPL, but I've literally seen one on Autotrader in the past month. How rare are those things?
Also, how do you guys think the two transmissions compare? I've driven several with the automatic and paddles, and it was good. Drove a 2009 convertible G37S today, and it was fairly disappointing. What are your impressions?

I can't say how rare they are. I have a 2012 MT and while its far from perfect, for me it was the right choice. The 7AT is good, but it's far from as involving as the manual (and therefor not as much fun to me) and not nearly as good as dual clutch units. It all comes down to personal preference. Test drive a non IPL 6MT and 7AT as there won't be much differnce compared to IPL versions. If you are patient my lease is up in 17 months!

When I was searching for mine, It was almost impossible to find one that was used. I think there were two in the whole country. Fortunately, I found a new one at the local dealership that was had been sitting for a while, so they cut me a deal, which ended up being cheaper than the two used ones that I had found.

I'd say they are pretty rare. When I was looking to buy, there was only one being brought over to the states within 2000 miles of me that was in the color combo that I wanted. I'm sure there were more later, but probably not many. And get the 6MT if you can find it. Sorry, but paddle shifters on an automatic are weaksauce.

I found 1 in London last fall traded my SE R for it
its a great car...I didn't realise just how much I missed rear wheel drive. I liked my 3.5 nissan in the SE R but the 3.7 rear wheel drive mt is the best I've had in quite awhile. I cannot imagine my coupe with an auto tranny. It would seem.....wrong...lol
if you can get a 6mt do so
cheers

For fun I did a basic search on cars.com
Used G37 with unlimited cost amount and 500 mile radius around Dallas, TX.
862 Used Infiniti G37s within 500 Miles of Dallas, TX area
Narrowed it down to MT only. It dropped to 39 vehicles
Narrowed it down to Coupe. It dropped to 22 vehicles.
And none of it was an IPL model. I'd say it's pretty rare to find a used one.
