First Impressions!
Hey fellas!
Well I've been shopping for a G37S coupe for a while now and have had zero luck up here in South Dakota and surrounding areas. But, today i ran down to Sioux Falls to a dealer that said their G was in Souix City, Iowa... Well they were wrong... I pulled into the lot to take a look around not expecting the G to be around anywhere. I was cruising through the 2nd row when i seen the Beautiful front end of the White G I called about the day before! I began to start shaking and had the biggest smile on my face when i seen it! I had not even seen one in person yet! She was everything I had been thinking it was and a little more! So I hurried around to find a parking spot, grabbed a sales man, and went to take a closer look. We go out and the sales man goes "which one were you looking at?". So i pointed it out to him and we pulled it out.
I'll kinda skip ahead a bit now that I'm realizing this is dragging out a bit.
We hopped in and proceeded to take her for a spin. First thing the guy asks me out of the lot was.. prepare yourself!... "What draws you into this Acura?"!!!! WTF dude! you don't even know what cars are on your lot! So we continued our cruise and needless to say, I'm in love! I educated the sales man about the car from what I've learned through the forum and enjoyed the drive. We took her back to the lot and the guy asks if i'm ready to buy it.. Unfortunately I had to say no due to the fact that it was automatic... I'm set on getting the 6MT after owning a 5MT camaro. Just thought I'd let you guys know about my first experience with the G and Infiniti in general!
Lets here some more first impressions! I'm curious on how you guys got into the Infinity line!

I bought mine from a Ford dealer about an hour after it had been traded in. I totaled my 350Z and needed a new car. I bought it in the dark and there were a couple of things I didn't care for in the daylight. These have mostly been taken care of.
I think you should have bought the auto. That way with the paddle shifters you could shift if you wanted to.

I wanted to make the deal really bad but there is no comparison to driving a real 6MT. I did try out the paddle shifters though! Pretty darn fun! Here is a picture of the 2 G's I was able to find today.
They are both autos. Everything is perfect on the white one, but the black one has to many miles and some serious curb rash on the wheels

You may want to expand your search. 6MT Coupes are fairly rare, and probably more so in SD. You had to go out-of-town just to find a coupe, unless you're lucky, or are willing to wait indefinitely for one to come to you, you might have to travel further for a 6MT coupe. You're more likely to find exactly what you want: colors, years and options for a much better price if you're willing to fly out to get it. If it's still under warranty, it's not a big risk. I got a x coupe for $5k less in Jersey than what I could have bought it for here in CO and got the color and options I wanted; well worth the $125 flight and the road trip home.
I was drawn to an Infiniti as I wanted a powerful reliable AWD coupe, and the G37x best fits that description. The luxury and features are just icing on the cake for me. They're bargains new, and incredible bargains once they are a couple years old. I paid less for a 2 year old luxury sports coupe than most people spend on a new Camry. I have heard that used cars are holding their value better now as there isn't enough of them to supply demand as the economy was so bad a few years back, and not enough new cars were sold then. Good luck finding yours.

If you're set on a 6MT, wait and get a 6MT. Do not settle for the AT because you will regret it! Paddle shifters are not a replacement for a stick! Welcome to the forums and hopefully we'll see you around with a new 6MT

Thanks for the support fellas! I've been shopping online nation wide and have seen quite a few 6MT's but i didn't want to fly out somewhere before i've even seen one G in person. Now that i have and drove one, i'm going to be flying out somewhere to pick one up. Everyone loves a good road trip! They seem to be awesome cars and have everything i'm looking for. My criteria are pretty specific for what i'm looking for so it makes it a little harder. 6MT G37S coupe, Black or white, Under 50k miles, preferably black leather. As you can see my search is pretty strict. I'm currently saving up but can pull the trigger any time. Waiting for a few dealers here to do some searching and see what they can find me. It's still in the winter months here so i have a month or 2 to keep searching before the weather gets real nice.

Try cars.com, as every it picks up every newspaper listing, plus free internet listings that all the dealers seem to use. You can be as picky as you want to be. I just did a search for used G37 coupes with a manual tranny and came up with 164 results. Auto trader tends to be higher price points, and bidding on ebay usually seems to get out of control as well. To find owner for sale cars, use searchtempest.com which searches all of craigslist at once. It's a longshot, but you may get lucky. Locally I'd rather buy from an owner, nationally I'd rather buy from a dealer. You'd be crazy to forward some guy some money to hold it until you buy it, and even if you paypal a down, will it still be there when you fly out to get it? I've never had an issue with a dealer selling the car out from under me when I place a downpayment, and it's always been there when I've flown out to get it. Just be very specific on your inquiries, so that a dealer will reduce the money or repair the issue if there is one. I once got a car in Texas that the tires were all torn up, and even though I was getting the best price by far nationwide on the vehicle, the dealer still put newer tires on it. Let them know you need and expect to drive several hundred or several thousand miles and the car needs an oil change and any other maintenance to perform a cross-country trip.

Well this thread was placed in the wrong spot i think! Should be in the Buying/Leasing sections unless we can get it back on track with First Impressions and experiences with this beautiful car! The link is the car I'm currently looking into. Its about as far away as possible but i have some family living there i can see in the mean time. Let me know what your thoughts are on the G

It's got the Tech package, which is very rare as well. I'm not sure the going rates for 6MT, but it seems decent with that low of mileage. The only thing you may want to hold out for is a 2010, a bit nicer interior and a much better nav system. For me the deal breaker would be the interior. The graphite has a sport feel, the Stone reminded me of my Outback! You spend most of your time on the inside.

It's hard to go wrong with a G37, 6 MT sport, prem, nav tech packages. It's got it all! If it's clean, and you like it, you're good with the colors, the price seems right. It may be four years old, but it looks like the new ones and is 21k miles young, and most likely garaged most of the time. Plus you get to get out of SD and go see some palm trees. I'm in the mountains west of Denver with about 8" of snow and still snowing, so Tampa doesn't sound that bad right now. It's a lot of car for a reasonable price. To quote myself, "they're bargains new, and incredible bargains once they are a couple years old." I'd pull the trigger if I were you. Welcome!

To me the price seems very good and I like the color and options. I see a scratch on the plastic frame behind the steering wheel airbag. It is nowhere near as bad as mine was before I replaced it. That is a known issue. The part can be bought new on eBay for $30 shipped. The aluminum covers on the inside door pulls is another common wear item. Those looked OK in the pictures. Really, there cannot be much wrong with a car with that low mileage. It is about 4 years old, but has just a bit more than 2 years of wear and tear.
