Looking at an 08 G37 Coupe - Any input

Hi, I'm new to this forum. Spent many years on a BMW forum. I like what I see in the Infiniti coupe and am starting to hunt for a "best in class" used vehicle. I came across this one on e-bay and found it worth a look.

Anyone care to share their thoughts on this vehicle, or better yet know something about it.

Hmm, seems almost too good to be true (if you don't mind the absolutely vulgar body kit that is). On the surface it seems like a good deal if you snatched it in the low 20s......

I agree..seems too good to be true. I don't trust private dealerships, my friend once bought a car with a clear title for almost 30k from a private dealership, later found out the car fax was fake, it ended up having many major problems that I don't even want to name..

Oh and one more thing...although I'm not trying to judge or this can't be always true...But if you buy a car with rims already on it, I just feel like someone beat the crap out of the car, as in flooring it and not driving it right...THATS JUST MY OPINION...I'd rather get a car with stock rims, you have a higher percentage of someone using that car for just work and daily use...But again, most cars are sold stock...Im saying too much than I should...I think too much sometimes lol

Cool looking car, just be careful. Get a third party inspection. Be prepared to get chastised by the forums with retarded comments such as: "Still a Nissan." Just ask them if their 335i has limited slip and show them the maintenance bill 2 years from now.

A few things jump out:

The snow plow in the front
That's really low miles, too low
This statement "This car makes considerably more horspower than stock"
No existing warranty? Should have factory for any owner up to 60k miles

I agree with the poster about driven hard.

It's got some sweet LED valve stem covers. It looks like it was decently taken care of, but i'm not sure. I find this part odd: "Infiniti Corp Factory program car", what does that mean? Seems odd if it was some sort of corporate car to be able to mod it like that.

I'm unfamiliar with the options on the 08's but I thought to get the sports package you had to have Nav, it also doesn't have backup cam or the reverse sensors. Maybe someone can confirm if that's normal or not.

While I tend to agree mod's make me feel like a cars been driven harder, it could have been someones baby. Most people on this forum seem to mod their cars and I know many of them take excellent care of their vehicles.

I appreciate the information you have shared. It is very consistent with some of the thoughts I had running through my head.

It is a little early for me to pick up a vehicle, I'm hoping closer to summer I can find that "best in class" vehicle. I do have my eyes on one, but I don't think it will be available when my window opens up to buy.

Your comments will help me sort through the vehicles I come across.

just like on the other thread about getting scammed, get a thorough inspection by a mechanic of your choice especially if you have little or no factory/powertrain warranty left on the car you are considering.

Take a test drive. Research what the "Infiniti Corp Factory car" is and find out what they used it for. Maybe it was for some executive that only drove it for 16K miles in a year, bought by this guy and he never drove it and hence why he's selling it. Intake would not make "considerably" more HP than stock. A selling point to the uninitiated. Find out what intake it is and go from there.

The "snow" plow that you guys speak of is the JP Vizage lip and sides that are authentic pieces. +1 in my book. The stillen spoiler is ok, would rather have OEM. The color match is good (in the pics). The axis wheels I could do without, but the rest of the car seems in good shape in the pics. The interior looks new.

@ko3r - while I would like to say that most of us are not stupid kids with their dad's cars, I want to believe that modding =/= beating the snot out of the car. That's for high schoolers with Hondas.

In any case, do not discount the car because it has intake, wheels and suspension (which he did not mention what kind, I would find out). Price-wise, it seems to be on par with what's going out there for an 08 with very little miles. I'm sure you could knock of a grand or two to make the purchase worth it.

I would at least consider if you are close by and can see the car in person.

This post might be late in the game but, the price looks normal to me. I paid 23,775 for my 2008 g37s 6mt about 1.5 years ago. 21k miles. I hope you win the bid! It's a great car!

It was leased 7/11/2008 and was AT an auction in Jan, 2009. May have been leased to a Nissan exec. but you cannot tell.

You have the VIN number, at a minimum I would have an Infinity service guy run it through the system. It should have 3-4 months of powertrain warranty left on it.

I am with other posters above, I don't care for the modifications. I actually like the oem 19" wheels better than these. You will break that front spoiler, especially so since the car was lowered.

The black frame under the steering wheel airbag is very fragile. Have the seller send you a closeup of that.

I live in hillsboro. I see washington plates on the car. He must have just moved here or bought the car because I would have seen it already in the area.
