Wood trim peeling

The wood trim on the drivers door in my 2009 X coupe is peeling. I just noticed it today, but it must have started awhile ago for how bad it is.

I called the dealership. The service manager appeared to know exactly what I was talking about when I described the issue, and he is going to call back after they see if they have any in stock.

Is this a common problem, and does anyone know if the certified preowned warranty will cover this? The normal 4 year warranty expired last month, so I'm into the certified coverage now.

If I had bought the car new, I wouldn't have opted to get the wood trim, but after having it for the past year, I have to say I like it.

If it's not covered by the warranty, I may try, but I want it to be perfect, and I doubt I could achieve that glueing it myself...

I bought my car pre-owned about 10 months ago and the day after I bought the car the passenger side started to peel like yours did. The dealership replaced the whole set without any hassle. I'm not sure if it was covered under Infiniti's warranty or if the dealership just to keep me as a happy customer.

I just talked to the service manager again. He said that the peeling is a known issue and Infinity has extended the warranty on the wood trim. He also said the new pieces are made differently to prevent the issue from happening again.

Did he give you any details about the extended warranty for the wood trim?

Nope, he just said that it was covered and he'd call to schedule an appointment to get it replaced once the parts come in.

I was at the dealer last month for the 7AT program update ( first time to the dealer since I bought the car on 09), dealer offer to replace the wood trims even they are not peeling. Since my door panels are heavily dynamat, dealer told me they will take care that when the trim peels. You can check there might be a tsb on the wood trim.

Use a windshield sun screen for the future .... helps preserve the wood and leather.
