LM7 swap

hey everyone, I have recently been tossing around the idea of putting my crate LM7 in my 08 g37 coupe 5AT. dose anyone have any thoughts (good or bad) on this? And if anyone has some experience with g37 V8 swaps (such as a ls1) could you please enlighten me as to some of the problems that i will inevitably run into. Any help would be much appreciated.

Couldn't help ya here. I've never done an engine swap like that before. But document the entire process and post pictures and dyno runs. I would love to see this transformation.

will do man, since the day i bought my G i knew that you could squeeze an LS1 into it but never had the $$ and always thought it was a bit out of my league, however i completely forgot about my LM7 that i bought at a swap meet last year and i hit me like a brick wall when realized that it to would be a good fit for the G, and could be tuned to have similar specs as the 5.7 LS1. Anyway i will definitely be keeping everyone posted!

V8 power in the G would be awesome - the only problem with doing this, or any other uncommon swap, is you will inevitably run into a TON of small issues that need to be resolved.

I only recommend to people to do a swap with a platform that has been done many times before. That way you can see what problems you will face and have help from others who have gone through it before.

If you do decide to do it, good luck.... just hope you have lots of patience!

There are tons of people that have dropped V8's in 350Z's and G35's so I think it's defiantly possible. SIKKY makes the LSX swap kit for the 350Z and G35. Contact them and see if they could hook you up with something.

will do man!, so far i have found out that the biggest difference between the lm7 and the ls1 are:

LS1 = aluminum block, higher displacement cam, forged pistons, and "cathedral" style air intake (not sure if thats the right name for it)

LM7 = iron block (adds 112lb), lower displacement cam, also forged pistons, traditional air intake, basically the same motor except one is geared for low end tq and the other for high end hp.

Again thanks to all for the comments!

If you go this route ever thought of a 2jz or even a lsx? I took out the engine and from visual inspection it seems a 2jz would be a perfect candidate, but again it's just from visual inspection. Good luck.

I love the idea of a V8 swap but I thought the LM7 only put out around 295 horse? 240 at the wheels. With the added weight wouldn't this be counter intuitive?
