Got rear ended yesterday...new bumper?

So yesterday I was on my way home from the gym and was waiting at a traffic light. It had turned green, but I didnt go yet because the other side was congested and I did not want to block the intersection...and then BAM! Some kid in a ford taurus hits me

I was wondering if it will be possible to get a new bumper? Possibly the aero rear bumper???

Looks like you're asking too much for minimal damages and the answer would be no!

How am I being a douche when I'm telling you the truth.

Don't you think you're trying to ask for too much for those tiny azz damages that only worth a new paint job? Plus you are the one who's asking a question and when somebody tell's you something you may not like you call them a douche? Wow!

What these guys said is INCORRECT! The Insurance Co will do whatever is less expensive, depending how they operate. They may give you the $$$. It all depends on the estimates. If they left it up to you, get the most expensive estimates you can find. Paint alone will be $300-$500. Plus the bumper still has to be repaired previous to paint.

Back when I had a G35, someone hit me and did lesser damage. I got an estimate of $500.

I'm pretty sure they will give you enough to get THIS:

2012 G37 Coupe: G37 Coupe/Convertible Aero - Rear Bumper - One could say there is something to be said of the unique sense of purpose about the aerodynamic lines of the Infiniti G37. The integration of a color coordinated front aero bumper adds a spo

So I have no idea what this "Weiboy718" is talking about.

Yeah, going by the picture those scuff marks at the top could be buffed out. What kinda "saves" you is that square-sized area that is actually popping out of the material, they might be able to actually fix it right and paint it for less than what a new bumper (+s/h & paint) would cost you.

But what I said might be wrong, since body shop rates are likely higher in CA than they are here in FL...

As Wyldfyer said before, go get a few estimates and pick the most expensive one for insurance purposes. I don't know how it works over there, and how your insurance company operates, but when I was rear-ended in my Camry, my insurance agent did the estimate and then dealt with the other person's insurance to get all that back. So all I did was get the estimate and take it to my nearest Toyota dealer and got all the work done, never had to deal with anyone else. But then again, that was a Camry, what was I supposed to upgrade on that car's bumper?

No one is being a douche... You asked for opinions, you got them. It will depend on a few things to see what the outcome will be.

Get estimates and do some research on possible deals for the aero rear but it will all depend on which insurance company the kid has and how they will process it as well as the shop that you go to and if they are willing to align themselves with your goal.

Sucks that you got rear ended though and I hope it gets remedied quickly for you.

Thanks for the help guys...i really appreciate it.

I'll go around and see which place i can get the highest estimate at.

This is actually my second time getting rear ended within the last 5 months and the previous accident just left scuff marks and I got a quote for $800.
