Drivers side mirror torn off by lane splitting m/c
Wife was sitting in stopped traffic when a motorcycle splitting lanes tore her mirror off. He stopped but gave her bogus insurance info.
What I thought would be a minor $ amount the total was an unbelievable $1550 due to scratched door when it banged against it and labor to remove window and regulator to get to some part of it I guess, repaint partial door etc. My uninsured motorists covered it all and only took a day to fix so I really didn't question all the pricing since it don't cost me anything.
Car just went up for sale and crap like this happens but at least the car got a really excellent detail job!
I know now how much body shops are ripping off insurance companies looking closely at the sheet and this body shop is even recommended by Farmers to go to.

If she also has his name, drivers license info. and license plate info. and he didn't have insurance then turn it into the police and hopefully they'll do something about it. If not at least have them validate the info you do have and you can always go to court to recover your deductible. Once you file the complaint in court and then have the police or sheriff serve him to appear in court, things might start happening for the better. Good luck on this and I really don't like the lane splitters like that when I'm driving. Scares me every time when I don't see them coming.

I just turned it all in to our insurance company. Its already fixed and my deductible waived on my uninsured motorist part. Apparently he has car insurance but no m/c policy added on it. No money out of my pocket either way him insured or not.

I'll bet your insurance company will be going after this person. For this she should have had the police come and do a report though, since he was splitting lanes I would say he is 100% at fault. Giving the police bogus insurance information would have landed him in more trouble than just giving the same to you. Good luck.

There were hundreds of officers within 1/2 mile of her tending to a CHP shooting where the officer died. She was sitting there for 5 hours with thousands of others cars with freeway shut down in both directions while they investigated and no one could move anywhere. They told her they didnt have time to take a report or even talk to the other guy.

Oh forgot to mention it was a large BMW m/c she said. She said they guy told her it had never happened before and he lane splits all the time. Im seen guys lane split in slow traffic and they are also going slow enough they can hardly balance a full dresser bike. They got no business doing it. Ive seen some drivers toss out coffee on bikers doing that and laughed my azz off.
