Interested in everyone's feedback as this topic has led to a bet between my friend and I...

My friend wants to buy a G37s coupe soon and was asking me about some modding choices. She mentioned that she wanted it to stand out and be different. One of the mods she wants to do is the butterfly lambo doors. I told her that for the cost of that one mod, she could get a LOT of other things done but if that's what she really likes she should go for it.

Anyway...she wanted to see what other loyal G37s coupe enthusiasts thought about this mod as the two of us have different outlooks, so I told her I would post a thread and see what was what...

So what do you guys think about a Lambo Door kit on a G37s coupe???

 

I'd say a bit too flashy for my taste but hey its what she wants because that would be one way to stand out

 

This is obviously my opinion so don't take offense.
I DESPISE cars with Lambo doors unless they're a Lambo. There's no reason for it. You're pretending to be a 250k+ car...but you're not.
I saw a Mustang GT with that and I thought it was by far the nastiest, ugliest, most tackiest thing I've ever seen on a car.
It might look decently nice but I feel that's not a suitable mod for a G.

 

Absolutely no offense taken...I actually expect much worse! Lol...but I don't agree that it looks tacky on anything that's not a 250K car...I personally wouldn't do it, but I have seen it pulled off nicely on other vehicles such as camaros, challengers, etc. It's just a little too flashy for me personally.

O, and not to mention, I think it will be more trouble than its worth.

Maybe you're right, I just haven't seen it work on any car. Not that I've seen many, but the handful or so that I have seen looked pretty hideous.
Personally, I'd be worried on hitting my head on the door while coming out.

 

They are more trouble than they are worth. There are,a lot of threads on 350z about this. They need constant adjustment and sound like a PIA. They can look nice on a show car but past that I wouldn't touch them.

 

I have had the same concerns and brought these up to her...both about hitting your head and the problems that I had seen and heard about from people with closer knowledge of that upgrade. It looked to me that it will be much harder to get in and out of after this upgrade.
