Close call for the G today....
I just got my 2012 Coupe a couple months ago. So far so good - no problems, no door digs, everything going smooth. I park in an end spot at work and come out to find the whole side and back of the car impregnated with grass from one of those huge mowers. It wouldnt even brush off. I'm thinking OK - I'll just wash it when I get home or it will blow off on the turnpike when I go 70MPH for 20 minutes. I'm on the turnpike in rush hour traffic and a 18 wheeler tire retread shoots out like a bullet from under the car in front of me. Couldnt avoid it - I run over it with both passenger tires. The whole right side of the car left the ground. It sounded like the plastic molding under the door that runs front to back shreaded or ripped off. When I got home all the grass was still there and I couldnt find any damage from the hitting the tire. I thought for sure it would have scratched the side or cracked the molding. I even looked underneath and couldnt find any damage.
The grass came off leaving minimal tiny scratches that are very hard to see.
Aggrivating day, but turned out OK.

The joys of car ownership. The car is mint as it drives off the lot, and its downhill from there. Scratches and dings, and everything else. It is very difficult to keep a daily driven vehicle pristine, that's for sure.

Might of been avoidable. Don't follow so closely!!
Since getting the new car, my driving style has changed alot. I keep a good 5-6 (or more) car lengths on the highway. That one 1 or 2 extra seconds may give you time to swerve.

Wow... Not much you can do in that case. That was/is my biggest fear when on the bike. I rarely ride in the middle, usually to the far left/right edge of the lane. Never had anything shoot out from the vehicle in front, but did have a close call with a rake from a landscaper's pick up. Damn thing flew right over my head!!

Nice positive attitude OP!! Glad all is ok and you got home safe!
Agreed on leaving ample space in front of me when in the G. It is a "sporty" car but those attributes are only helpful when surrounded by proper "drivers".
My G does not compete with those SUVs when little Sally is late for recital, little Timmy late for soccer and daddys meal getting cold...
