Mixing Tints?
Hey,
I'm looking at tinting the windows on my '10 G37x (all 4 side windows and the rear windshield)...
Where I live (BC, Canada), you're not allowed to have any tint on your drivers windows, but people do it all the time. I'm willing to take the chance, but I'm not going to go crazy and put 20% on the front windows and stick out like a sore thumb... (it's only a 108$ fine if they catch you, plus you need to get the front windows removed)
The place I'm thinking of going with uses SunGard Shadow tints, and their options are 5, 20, and 38%
I'm considering just putting the 38% everywhere, but part of me wants to go with the 20 or the 5 on the rear windows and rear windshield... but I'm not sure how it'd look.
My options really come down to:
- no tint on the drivers side windows, 20% on the rear side windows and windshield
- no tint on front two, 38% on rear three
- 38% front two windows, 20% on rear three
- 38% all 5 windows
I tried to find some pics that show mixed tinting on the cars, but it's hard to find.. which leads me to believe it might look stupid.
Thoughts?
Thanks

38% all way around. I got 25% on my IPL and never get hassled but i put windows down when i see cops ! lol but you got sedan so try to keep all windows same tint. It wont look stupid if different shades, just think of Suv's and trucks...there back windows are dark as #%@! but front one's are clear.. so it wont stick out like sore thumb. Anyways my opinion is go all same for your G

20 percent all around. I have an all black g coupe. What i noticed is that even though everything is 20 percent all around, the front two windows seem a little lighter. Maybe because there is more light there?
if anyone else can confirm this, you should get 20 percent all around.

It's because you have all this light coming in from the windshield but not from the back window ('cause it's tinted), and the sunroof. Fronts will always look a little lighter unless you are seriously dark.

so spinnaker, as other people have said, there is a difference just like there is with me. If I were you, I'd think about getting those 20s all around. it will show contrast between the front and back so it may seem like you have 20s in the back but 35s in the front

For the msot part a cop will give you a ticket but not make you take it off (some will obviously) but atleast here it is not a big issue. Mixing tints looks weird and I have heard from many tint guys can sometimes cause attention because of the large contrast (makes it more evident that the fronts are tinted at a glance than if all windows are the same around the car) 35% is also quite light, so you may regret going with that.

Mixing tints does look very weird and in our coupe, it will have a huge contrast. For me, the main reason I got tints was to keep the car a little cooler and so the leather doesnt heat up as much. It still does get insanely hot but i can only imagine how hot it would get without tints.
