Clear Coat Peeling??

I have a 2008 Ivory Pearl G37-S with 29K miles.

I noticed the other day on about half of my passenger side rear quarter panel, that in a certain light, it looked really cloudy and kind of hazy. Upon closer inspection, I noticed this quarter sized surprise.

I looked around the car and noticed this cloudiness on a section of my trunk as well. Is this the start of a paint epidemic I'm going to have to deal with? I have it waxed every six months, so I'm not sure where I went wrong, or if the paint is just $hit.

Anything I can do to stop the spreading of this? I'm guessing I'm going to have the have the trouble areas re-sprayed, which really sucks for a car with 29K miles.

hhmm that's interesting, I have a black 2008 and live in florida where the sun is just brutal.. but no problems yet.. I'd almost take that back to the dealer and show them.. it's not really a chip, that would have probly removed the white paint as well

Yeah, I'm in Fort Lauderdale, but my car is garage kept at home and at work.

It's definitly not a chip, it's peeling. And a good 2 foot by 2 foot section is cloudy, so I'm sure it's on it's way too.

My factory warranty expired last month, so I doubt they'd do anything for me.

my only other thought would be if it was wet sanded and it removed some of the clear coat in that spot.. but if you haven't had that done, then it's ruled out

I doubt it has been repaired. I have the same thing on mine on the roof, very very small, not as much as yours. Its actually a small triangle. I have yet to go to the dealership for an explanation. BTW I have a 09 coupe. It wont get any bigger, wont peal anymore. it kinda looks like they somehow missed that area on my car.

Carfax was completely clean.

I'm just really concerned that this is going to start turning up around the entire car.

My only thought was something like tire wet splashing up and eating away at the coat, or a towel with something on it from one of these car washes, etc. It's discouraging, that's for sure.

remember just because its not on the CARFAX report it doesn't mean it never happened. Sometimes the owners choose to not report the damages to the insurance and just pay for it out of pocket. hope you find a solution. good luck!

That looks like a repair or flaw... eithet way it's not typical and most likely not an indication of things to come.
