Friday the 13th bad luck

So I am driving along the highway going about 60mph when a dumb driver texting and obviously not paying attention to the road side swipes me. To top it all off she tried to take off on me, had to chase her down driving like a mad man, cutting through 4 lanes. Caught up no problem, pulled a Steve McQueen Bullitt move by stopping perpendicular in front of her, got out of my car ready to kick her in the face, when she said "I am sooo sorry I was trying not to create traffic, I was not trying to take off"....long story short to top it all off, she told me she was texting(she actually said the same thing to the cop) and had a few beers. To offend even further and in all of my rage she says to me that she has a friend that would be able to fix it all for under $500 and no need to call the cops.

I just had to vent. I am meeting with the adjuster today and see. The rim is all scratched and would need to be replaced(four to six week wait due to backorder) or refinished. The IPL side is all damaged and so is the back quarter panel

As I cooled off, for some strange reason I started feeling guilty for getting her arrested, but then to make myself feel better I think that if I would've had her reported she would it again and something worse would happen, she might actually kill somebody.

Did she get arrested for DUI? If so, don't feel sorry for her. She used bad judgement and it bit her in the butt. That's not your fault. Maybe her insurance hike, surcharges, and possible license suspension will make her think twice before doing stupid stuff that endangers others next time.

I am glad you are ok and I am very sorry to hear this has happened. Thank you for sharing the story, but definitely do not feel bad for the exact reason your stated, you may have prevented something worse from happening!

I hope things get fixed as soon as possible!

Thanks guys for the support....She did get arrested for DUI and she was driving a POS banged up VW. What pisses me off the most is how irresponsible can one be. If you have a beer, you shouldn't be driving, but if you do, that's when one should be 100x more careful and not be distracted whatsoever. Also all the man hours I actually put into making the car my own....very disappointed......

No need for you to feel guilty for her arrest...texting is as bad as driving drunk, AND she was doing both. People like that should not be on the road...you did everyone else a service by getting her off the road.

So did the cop come? If not hopefully you called their insurance right on the spot and filed a claim. People say its a pain in the azz and takes a long time but you have to get it done right the first time.

But if she driving while under the influence then she deserves it. I hope they give her a stiff penalty.

Seriously, don't feel guilty at all. I can't believe that b!tch actually tried to run away from you. Accidents do happen but if you do cause one at least man up and be responsible about what you did. Like other said, if you didn't catch this lady she would never learn and would continue to repeat these same dangerous mistakes. Hopefully she'll think twice before getting behind the wheel again drunk and/or wanting to txt someone. F that ho
