I am getting a 2012 G37 and one comes with prem, nav, performance wheel pkg, accents and illuminated kick plates(Black on Black) Love the color hate keeping black clean.

The other is 2012 G37S with prem, nav, illuminated kick plates White ext, graphite interior. I have drove both but the Sport seat doesn't seem as comfortable as the other G. I love the handling of this one. Wondering if the seats give somewhat after having this for a while or not. They just feel stiffer then the other.

 

I had to get used to my seats too! a little stiff , but ive got mine adjusted just right, got use to them. get the S Congrats either way you go!!! Enjoy My buddy bought a base model and regrets it every time he see's mine, he says

The sport gives a lot of real equipment for a reasonable price. A lot of people on the forum feel that its worth it for the brakes alone. I would have got a sport, but I'm a parapalegic and have a lot of pain in my butt. I thought I might get a sport and trade my seats to someone of the forum for their standard seats. It's not just the seats making the ride harsher, it's also the wheels and suspension. I needed an AWD and didn't want to get a $40k 2011, so the regular setup made more sense for me and it will be beneficial driving in deeper snow. Plus my butt hurt just from sitting in a non-moving sport. If you plan on doing a bunch of modding, it's less a big deal. If you love the handling and look of the sport, get it. If the seats don't break in the way you like them, trade them to some happy recipient on the forum.

Other than that, you’ll get a lot of responses from that majority here who love the sport model, and consider it a threat to their virility if anyone chooses otherwise.

 

The seats will break in after a little bit but it may not be a huge difference from new. But I would say that the Sport is worth it if you get the G. You wont regret the other options it comes with.

 

Sport for sure. Don't forget its BRAND SPANKING NEW...it'll take some time to breaking in but the seat will eventually loosen up and will be more comfortable.

The seats blow though. Just took a 3 hour drive recently. Felt like I got stabbed in my backside with a broom stick.....not that I would know how that feels. However...ya, they suck.

I guess this all depends on the person. I personally think it wouldn't matter. If you want a softer ride than get a Journey, if you like that sport stiffness (LSD) then get a sport.

Met a guy the other day that said he got a sport instead of a journey because of the ride. He said it was too stiff to take his son in.

Journey or Sport. TT or S/C that b1tch and it will be hot.

 

Well, in a way I agree with you. There are some of us, perhaps a bit older; who don’t drive their G’s like we’re at the track, but enjoy a quiet, smooth ride, and find the Journey just right. Our seats fit our bottoms properly, the center console shift lever is as good as paddles, and our brakes stop the car effortlessly as long as we stay below 120 mph (for which we never come close).

But a no brainer? I find it somewhat amusing that some of you find non-sport owners as having made a poor choice and are insulted that anyone would show disloyalty to “real” G37’s. You sport model zealots should be more tolerant. And we certainly don’t need another boring “sport versus non-sport” thread.

 

The OP said that he liked the handling much better than the Journey. If that's the case, the sport is best for him. I don't own a sport and still suggested he get it, as he obviously likes it much better. Its easier to swap out seats than hang all the Sport equipment on a non-sports coupe. I don't think all the posters were just saying Sport is better in every circumstance, but it will be best in his situation.

And talk about a bargain, for the same price as nav, you get LSD, upgraded brakes, upgraded wheels/tires, stiffer suspension, ground effects, spoiler, sport pedals, and limited edition really crappy seats.

I agree, if you're a person who bought the coupe more for its look and luxury than its performance, and at most enjoys an occasional spirited ride, then a Journey is the better car for you. But if he is already thinking sport, then I think it's obvious what's best for him.

You also have to know that there's a disproportionate amount of content on this site from performance members, which is good. Otherwise thread titles would be "Picked up groceries & went to work today." The gear heads are the minority of owners, but provide the majority of content on this site.

 

I regretted myself for not getting the S actually.

But after all, think about whether you are a person who's going to heavily modify your ride.
I see people replacing things, brakes to Brembo, OEM wheels to volks/advans/works, or replacing the trunks to other styles, replacing body kits...... Then I don't really see the point of spending extra bucks for the S.

 

Well this is kinda true but as I learned there are more to the S besides just wheels, suspensions and stuff. The Sports packages comes with a LSD and Journey is doesn't and for an extra 2K is worth it.

But like you if I were to upgrade to Brembo BBK and stuff. I would of just gotten a Journey and save me for the BBK.
