Going to plasti dip soon, can't remove the wheels yet as I do not have the wheel lock key which I'll probably have to get striped and removed since the ID card is nowhere to be found either. Any tips? I have the 19 sport rims!

dont do it in the wind, shake the can before plasti dipping, do your coats evenly, let it dry properly, i plastidipped my 19's and they came out great...

^ lmfao, I've had some experience with plastidip however I need to do it without taking the wheels off the car, I'm just trying to prevent some overspray however it is pretty hard getting in between those tight spokes to do masking!

I don't have the key for the wheel locks, have to wait on that and on top of that I live in an apartment complex....not the best place to take my wheels off -___-

I CANT take them off even if I wanted to because I DONT HAVE the KEY for the WHEEL LOCKS. I have to get that problem sorted out if I want to take them off. Even if I wait till I get that problem sorted out (no idea how long that will even take), I live in an apartment complex so I have very limited space to work and it would be better off keeping them on.

Take it to ANY wheel/tire shop. Ask them to remove the lock because you don't have the key. It will literally take them 2 minutes to do it. Get a new lock set for like $30 and have them install it.

Now you don't have to worry about not taking the wheels off.

Please don't plastidip your wheels without taking them off the car first...that's just silly

do it with the wheels off or dont do it at all. its going to be damn near impossible or NOT worth your time to mask everything off. what are you going to do about the lugs? if you dont mask them off then the plastidip is going to be stripped of when you do end up removing the wheels for whatever reason (fix a flat, rotate tires, getting new tires, etc.) if you do mask them off have fun, cuz its going to take you years. better off getting htem poweder coated

Get the locks off first. Speaking from experience the tire guy broke my key to my locks and messed up the plasti dip trying to get them off. Your gonna end up re-doing them if you do them before u get the locks off. It's up too you if you have enough free time to plasti dip em twice then go for it. u go to st.johns I used to go to queens college good luck with those roads I got 3 flats last year.

As for tips dipyourcar.com has tips as well as videos on how to do it with your wheels on. Pretty much mask off everything you don't want to get overspray on. Remember ur using plasti dip so if u do mess up just start over. I'm prob gonna respay my rims again and then spray them over with real paint. One of my boys did that and it looks good.

Clean the rims while they on the car very very good. Remove them and clean again with rubbing alcohol, the cleaner the wheels are the less chance of getting bumps/bubbles. Also you don't have to tape off the whole wheel...put tire shine on them and then waste a deck of playing cards on them...situate the cards in the grove of the rim and tire so they stick up and they fan out. If you do get some on your tires dont worry because you used tire shine the dip will come off easily after the next wash. Put like 4 coats on each wheel (15 mins between each coat) and take your time. Avoid direct sunlight and try to not do it in the wind...have fun!

PS it has to be done with wheels off the car. Do it at a friends house...make a day out of it
