Having difficulty driving my G37
I've been praticing on my G for about 3 hours. im getting better but I stall ALOT. It's annoying. I used to drive my uncles standard civic all the time. I did a quick google search on how to drive manual and hopped in and i didn't even stall the first time i drove. Now I get to this G (still fairly new to driving manual) and im stalling like crazy. It's frustrating!!
Any tips out there from fellow G owners?
Im scared to drive my G now because I don't want to screw up my clutch.

shifting between the gears is pretty simple i believe.
all I do is i let go of the clutch slowly while gradually giving gas. ( i hope this isn't wrong, am i burning the clutch?)
sometimes i do get that jerky motion when im shifting through the gears.

First of all, don't think you are the only one. Many many people have complained about the clutch in the G37 (and 370Z). I've been driving various manual transmissions since the mid 1970's, and this is just poor. The main problem is lack of feel - there is just no indication from the clutch that it is starting to engage until you get to like the last quarter inch before its fully engaged - then you get that clunk and the engine quits. great.
However, there is a fairly easy and cheap solution. Read up here: Group Buy - Clutch Pedal Assist Spring for 6MT - MyG37
It appears that Nissan/Infiniti have essentially removed all feel from the clutch pedal in an attempt to make the pedal just a little easier to push down. If you are OK with a slightly stiffer pedal, this $15 modification will make the clutch much easier to modulate and feel (so I hear - I ordered the spring this evening).

don't feel discouraged... practice makes perfect. you honestly only have about 1/4 inch of play room and the engagement is all the way at the top. The Best way I found the sweet spot was practicing on a small gradient, although people would say riding the clutch is bad(which its is) but you essentially have to find that sweet spot and even if your revving to 2k it wont hurt the clutch, turn the music down and learn to hear the revs and feel the engine. Just practice in an area where your safe and your alone so you feel less pressured

Many people had the same problem with the 350Z. The problem was the clutch engaged at the very top of the travel. That was hard to deal with. There was a way to adjust the clutch so it would engage about an inch from the top and it made things much easier. I'm sure there is a way to do that with the G37 but I couldn't tell because I don't have the 6MT G37.

Hey, this car was my first manual. I went what you went through but I payed attention to what works best for me with this car. When starting in first I rev the engine to about 1.5k before I start to engage the clutch. This gives the engine the power to handle this engagement and not stall, and I never stall doing this. I noticed the jerking in-between shifting is cause I was shifting too slow. If I shift fast enough and ease the clutch around the engagement point, I can't even feel the transistion. Practice, the car will tell you what you're doing wrong once you listen, LOL. Good luck.

I to like you O.P had a hard time adjusting to the clutch. The clutch petal is so unforgiving like other models. The catch for the gears are so early in our car but practice will make perfect. Go practice at an empty parking lot for about 2 hours and you will soon get use to it.

OP, just keep practicing. And consider taking the clutch assist spring out of the car (similar to what someone above posted, but instead of replacing it, just remove it). I took mine out and it made my shifts much smoother since I can feel the engagement point without it there.

It's not an easy clutch but yet it's not rocket science. Practice makes perfect.
Try to feel the clutch by using the no gas method, then remember the engagement point. I learned manual from this car and I stopped stalling in about 3 weeks.

Speak for yourself, I love my 6MT. It was not and never has been a pain, and I have a blast every time I drive her.

Wrong, I read about the spring online and decided I'd try taking it out. I was not compelled to do anything. I was quite happy with the car before modding it. I was more happy with it afterward, not to mention it made shifting easier for my wife. It's not like people hate the way the g37 looks, so they buy a lip for it. They just like it MORE with the lip.
