My base confused as a sport. Problem?
I own a 2008 G37 base 5 at coupe. At least I think it's a base. It has the same size wheels all around and on the frame of the door it states this. So I'm fairly confident that's a good indicator of a base model. However the vin shows it as a sport. When I initially did the carfax it came up as a sport but in person I could tell it didn't have the options of the sport and the previous owner even stated he didn't have an answer on that. I still got a pretty good price.
Back story is the car was originally leased and then sold to the guy I bought it from and sold to me several months later.
Anyway my question is if this a bad thing or possibly a good thing. Aside from having to explain to the mechanic that it's a base and not a sport it's not really. Laming up. But I started thinking it could affect my insurance rate? Or maybe alter the resale value positively or negatively.
Should I get this changed and if so how. Thanks for your input.

Right. I'm pretty confident it's a base. And I understand how my insurance works. So it's costing me more to have this car on my insurance then it should?

I know the options of the S. it's got 18s but the original wheels were stolen. No S, I suppose it go of been rebadged but not Likely.
Anyway I'm 99% sure it's a base. So should I get the Vin to state that? Trying to weigh pros and cons of that. Also I have no idea how to go about doing that.

wheels and badges and even the vin plate are easy to change. brakes would be the toughest, suspension, paddle shifters... you might have bought a wrecked car or something and it got pieced together, if the vin doesnt match the options idk whats gonig on. the vin can be swapped. check the other vins located on the car. the motor has a vin, transmission. idk

Hadn't thought about that. I have a detailed history through carfax and the vins in plain soght matchup. I was thinking it was just a mistake. Guess I should be careful what I say when I call up infiniti.
Pretty sure it's a base. Haven't thought about the seats though. What's the difference?
Still pretty confident it's a base so to my original question: pros cons of having a base with a sport vin?

Vehicle is still under warranty and so far no problems with the dealership. So for the sake of keeping that intact I should probably continue with having the Vin falsely classify it as a sport?

Thanks for the help classifying my car. I guess I should of put the bottom line up front. I am confident it's a base and not sport unless someone decided to convert all of their options to base.
So the issue is the car is a base with a mistaken or some other way changed Sport Vin.

i bought a vehicle with a clean carfax and it was wrecked before and i didnt know it. dont go by the bumper because it gets replaced in a wreck usually...like i said the brakes wouldnt get replaced easily. the seats are a toss up.
cons of base vehicle sport vin is insurance. a guy with a regular vette doesnt want to pay for the zo6 insurance, these cars arent that big of a difference but its an example

Sport Seats
Non sport seats
The most apparent difference being the thigh extensions not found on the base seats and then the side bolsters are more pronounced on the sports. Granted these are both pictures of convertible seats, but the same is true on the regular coupes.
