Long Distance Trips in G37

I plan on driving from the Shenandoah valley area in Virginia to Iowa later this year for my brother-in-law's wedding. 100% intend on taking the G even though my wife has a Honda CRZ (hybrid).
^What Ecain said is so true. I live maybe 25 minutes from an on-ramp to Skyline Drive (the pass he is referring too) and it is awesome. Sucks that the speed limit is like 35mph, but it has some great scenic views, as well as some awesome rolling hills (if you choose to challenge said speed limit).
I used to drive 19 hours straight from hershey pa to siesta key fl and just stop for gas 2 times. My legs and back felt like i hadnt even been in a car it is so comfortable. Id take the g and take pics of your trip. There are some beautful roads in PA that you will enjoy your g so much. Id say go for it you wont regret it. Coming up you could go through shenendoah national park ther is a beautiful drive but people go slow too but worth it if you ask me

I have taken the G from MD to upstate PA (Erie) multiple times. It is a good 6 and an half hour drive. I have done it in my car (G37s), my gf's ford focus, and my dad's GMC Yukon (was worried about snow). The G was by far the most fun/easy on the body to drive. The Yukon was right there with it but that is a big SUV getting only 15 miles a gallon. The G is comfortable, and its still fun when are getting bored or starting to daze off to push that right pedal down for a little entertainment.

I think it depends on what you value. If you want the most "fun", I would take the G. If you want the most comfort or save $$$, I would take the accord. 3000 miles / 30mpg = 100 gallons. 100 gallons x $0.50 (difference between Super and Regular) = $50. Thats not really a lot. So if it's negligible, take the G (if u can fit everything). If not, Take the Accord.

I also agree on taking the G especially if you have the sport seats. This past summer the wife and I drove from South Florida to Kansas ( I am military), I was in my G and she was in her cayman. Half way through she had to switch cars because of back pain in her car. (which I really had a hard time with her driving my car). She said that once she got in the G, within 50 miles the back pain was gone.

The G coupe has to be much more comfortable...I drove my G X sedan from Ft Worth, TX to Ruidoso, NM this winter and it was very comfortable...but again, mine is a sedan.

After hearing about all of your experiences with the G in long trips, I am probably going to take mine. The extra money for gas will be worth it and it's better than flying and dealing with all the hassle of the airport. Thanks for all of your help. I will definitely be taking pictures of her through the mountains.
Also, thanks for the skyline drive suggestion, that looks awesome!

I say take whichever gives you the best MPG, gas prices are a b*tch and only getting worse. Also I live in Atlanta but drive to DC at least once a year to visit my parents, some tips for the road on I-85/I-95:
1. Don't speed near the borders of NC and SC, I always see lots of cops for a mile or two upon crossing the borders going both ways.
2. Do not speed in VA. Even if it means you are keeping up with traffic, they are draconian. On my last trip I was going 70 in a 60 just like everyone else, except....I was the only one with out of state plates i.e. you are a sitting duck waiting to be hit up for money.
3. I would not recommend taking Skyline Drive/Route 81 in VA unless you are extremely mindful of your speed. The roads are really hilly and they love to hit you up on the downhill from two hills away. Been there done that. Twice.
Anyway hope your drive is fun and safe.
