Found a low mileage 2008 G37S. How much to pay/negotiate?
Found one with about 20,000 miles, G37S, 6-speed manual, fully loaded with NAV.
Being sold at a dealer asking $28.5k.
I indicated some interest online and just got a call from the dealer. If I bought, I would have to fly to them and drive it back.
Here is what I wrote:
Thank you for the phone call and this follow up as well. I appreciate your willingness to do business and the professionalism with being prompt.
I could see myself potentially moving on this vehicle, but also have to abide by my own constraints of money and time. Being that I am in sales (finance) as well, I have no intentions of wasting anyone's time. My budget had me putting in offers on various cars starting at $23.0k with a fair understanding that negotiations and other circumstances wouldn't make that $23.0 figure my absolute hard and fast limit. This is also true particularly for this specific vehicle given its low mileage.
So to be fair to you and the vehicle listed, I can open with an offer of $24,500
There are multiple flights to xxxxx via Southwest from yyyyyy, so if we can come to mutually beneficial terms in good faith, I believe that something as soon as this weekend could be possible. Making such a trip, sight unseen, does require somewhat of a leap of faith that the condition of the car mechanically and cosmetically is being represented well, but I am sure that my trepidation is fairly standard!
-------------------
Was this a good way to go about it or am I just a moron? Please call me out if need be, I can take it

Sounds good and 24,5 seems like a fair price for that car. I believe a few people have been buying 08 MT's with low mileage from anywhere between 24 and 31k

Go lower. Bought last weekend an 09 G37S 6spd, 17k miles, with nav prem in mint condition for $26K + ttl from a dealer. Car had 20 months factory bumper warranty left.
I also had to fly to the dealer and drove back 1500+ miles to buy the car.
$28.5 is too high in my opinion, $24k ish sounds about right.
I would also check to see when the in-service date of the car was. In other words, when the car was purchased to see how much factory bumper warranty is left for starters... Good luck.

If the car is absolutely pristine, then paying a little extra is worth it. I looked at many 08's with under 30K miles, and 90% of them had some type of paint flaws of curb rash on them.
The ones that were MINT, were fetching a solid 2000-2500.00 more.
Take into consideration your expenses for travel, and additional mileage put on the car to get it also. Documentation fees, etc. I would say a fair price that the dealer should be able to agree to, would be anywhere from $25,800-26,800 if the car is in still near mint condition. (meaning a 9-9.5/10 in every category)
I just purchased my 09 37S 6MT for $30,800.00 out the door with 18,047 miles on it. The car literally looks like it rolled off the showroom floor. An honest condition rating of 9.7-9.8 out of 10.........Completely loaded minus tech package. Rear spoiler, and illuminated kick plates.

I got mine (08 G37s fully loaded) for 19.5. Bought it with only 43K miles on it. If you can get through a private seller, you can negotiate more....just let them know you want to have it inspected at the dealership before you buy -to make sure they aren't hiding anything-

I think that 24,5 is too low. I paid ~26-5 for my loaded 08 Coupe, S model, w 40K miles.
To awightguy, I'd like to hear the [real} deal on your 19,5 price. Good job!
