Does Your G37 Instigate Road Rage???

Well . . . it helps to hear these stories and know I'm not crazy.
I've been reminded of my old business partner in LA, who had what was then a new Viper coupe. He actually said he hated driving it because of the problems it caused. He sold it and bought an M3 because the latter was less flashy - or so went his reasoning.
Times change. When I was a kid blasting around the roads in what was then my new '88 CRX Si, and I saw someone in a hotter car, I respected both the car and the driver. That didn't mean I might not try to race him, but I would never flip him off or tailgate or be a *****. I was more likely to think, One day . . .
I live evenly placed between Detroit and Appalachia. That probably doesn't help. I have to drive 80 miles to get a decent haircut, which is what I actually did today. The people here are friendly when I'm in town on foot, but man, they really seem to hate my ride and whatever they think it represents.
On an unrelated note: My driveway is dirt. Didn't think much of it when I moved in last Fall and it was dry. Now it looks like a track from the Eastern Front, with four inches of mud that never dries! Imagine me, back from the $15 car wash. My G37 turns Red Neck between the road and my garage!

I think if you're driving a fancy car through an area that's depressed, the locals will stare you down and may mess with you. Be careful of the locals on the interstates too. They may try to run you off the road in their beat up chevy truck just because you passed them. CCW across all 50 states should be the law. People will think twice before messing with someone else.
Some summers ago I followed the advice of my gps to get back to chicago from WV. I didn't think to check the route in detail to see exactly what course it was following. The result was going through the ghetto's of Cincinnati to get from one interstate to another. I was in full gear, head to toe, on a bike with a super loud exhaust. At red lights, I was in gear, ready to run if I had to.

No problems here in Nashville. Then again, there is a huge population of Nissan vehicles here due to their N. America office being here along with an assembly plant vs Michagan's if it's not American you are a communist attitude.
That really does suck.

and here I was thinking my G was cursed or something. I've only had the car for a few weeks and I've had more people tailgate, road rage ( actually had someone chase me around downtown Bellevue for a few minutes on my way to work), and just trying to take me out than when I had my Ralliart. Times like that are the only time I wish I still had my RA.... it was a lot faster than the G. Oh well.

Of course these things happen to everyone, but it's the frequency.
Sorry to hear about your experience, but sort of glad it's not just me.
Note: Your RA was really faster than your G? My M3 was quicker, but not by a huge margin that I notice, and the G37 has so much more than my M3 did - an interior that doesn't read 'pickup truck' for one thing.

After reading through this topic, why are you people assuming its jealousy? Because you think you have a nice car and people are doing things like tailgating, you just think that they are jealous that they dont have that. It may be how you are driving, maybe even how you look, act or appear to some. BMW kind of has a bad rep (people calling it beemer, etc.) so its not a surprise your M3 was getting bullied. Its just edgy when people assume its jealousy. Like you actually think that having something everyone desires and expect to be better than anyone else.
Just my 2 cents

And I don't think I drive the Infiniti and more aggressively than I do our Acura - but these things don't happen behind the wheel of the latter with anything remotely resembling regularity.
I don't know what chemistry is to blame, but I think that's why this thread is kind of interesting.

I know! For me it started literally the FIRST DAY I drove it. Went to pick my son up from school, and when I walked back out to the car this woman had parked her Chevy K Car thing literally RIGHT UP AGAINST my rear bumper. I mean, she had actually hit me - then stayed there. No damage, thank God. Who does that???

Nice Post.
I've only had my G37 since Jan 20 so I haven't experienced anything major yet.
But....
I drove a Toyota Supra for years. That car was the Mortal enemy of Camero, Trans Am, 300Z, and a few others. No matter what, when I passed someone in these cars they had to buck up and try to drive off on me.
I then switched to a VW Jetta VR6. That car was the Mortal enemy of Mustangs for some reason. I played along sometimes and antagonized them by passing them up doing 10-15 mph above what they were doing. It never failed that they would speed up and pass me. Usually the Red ones were the easiest to bait. I had a two hour drive each day to work so it came in handy to avoid tickets. On at least two occasions the Red Mustang was pulled over and my Black jetta squeaked by in stealth mode.
Dodge Trucks do not like my Nissan Frontier.
I'm still trying to figure out which cars will be the ones to challenge the G37. I have new rubber so I'm going to make a road trip soon, that will probably reveal all. Looking at going to houston and austin in the next few weeks.
I did have one run in with another car. 11:00 at night, new road, well light, known for patrol cars. I take off at the light and notice a car approach me quickly and pass me up. I speed up a little to identify the car and he floors it and leaves me. He waits for me at the next redlight. I pull and and notice it's an Infinity M series. He takes off and loses me and turns left at the next light. I wonder if that was just a friendly game of cat and mice or if it was his way to say that the M will crush the G.

Being sincere, I think a lot of people are jealous. I'm only 16 and I have a 2008 coupe non sport and I get dirty looks all the time when stopped at red lights and when walking to my car in the parking lot (I usually park semi far away so people don't ding my doors). I even had one person call me a daddy loving fu**hole when I was walking to my car, probably because he's mad I have a nice car at 16, but I paid for 1/2 and working for 2/3. I drove my grandma's 2000 accord sedan for 6 months and never had anything happen before.
