Anyone got an answer for this? 08 G coupe. I'm trying to do everything I can to save as much gas as possible. It's really annoying to have to fill it up every 2-3 days.

How many kms you get on a tank?? I get about 300kms from $50 worth of premium at around $1.40 with mixed driving but on highway I usually go about 120km/h..

According to studies backed by the department of energy, the average car will be at its advertised MPG at 55 mph. But as the speed increases:

- 3% less efficient at 60 mph
- 8% less efficient at 65 mph
- 17% less efficient at 70 mph
- 23% less efficient at 75 mph
- 28% less efficient at 80 mph

Well is your car up to date on maintenance? Like the air filter and stuff those make a big difference and is your tire pressure correct? Also, how many miles do you drive in a day?

All kinds of stuff can cause this problem.

Yes and keep your foot out of the gas.


Really these cars aren't the greatest on MPG's. You might would have wanted a different car if you needed good gas milage.

I made a trip from Maryland to Michigan and back with two other people in the car and lugage. I drove 5-8 mph over the speed limit. No aggressive acceleration and lot's of cruise control and I got 29mpg for the trip.

I was getting 30mpg on the highway today with cruise control at ~58mph. Also my trip to school is over 80 miles a day but under 100. Not sure how many km I get on a tank but I believe I get over 200 miles but under 300.

@Paulie - One of the highways I take has a speed limit of 50......so theoretically I would have to speed (to get to 55) to get the maximum efficiency?

As soon as I hit city driving, my mpg just completely tanks.
I'm going to be getting an oil change soon, I'll get the filters and everything looked at when I go to do that. Just bought the car less than 2000 miles ago so I'm hoping the filters are clean.

I've been averaging about 21mpg mixed driving so far. Just broke 1K miles though, so expect mileage to improve with more miles.

It is hard to keep the car under 75, even in top gear.

Got a trip coming up this weekend, ~250 miles worth, mostly interstate. Going to try to keep it no more than 65. Will report back with numbers.

I get an avg of 21 city/hwy. But when I drive to Cali, from Vegas (about 230 miles), I get about 25mpgs from my driveway to in-laws driveway. Avg speed indicated is 60. Hwy speed ~75-80mph

I have a 42 mile commute each way with mostly highway, some traffic and I average 21 MPG with the occasional spirited driving...When I fill up, the max range I have ever had is 430 mpg. Usually i'm about 400 mpg range with a full tank. I also tend to speed a bit, at least 70-75 mph.

As an aside, I've noticed the best mileage when the temperature outside is about 40-50 degrees F.

Turning off the air conditioning will bump my mpg by around 2+ mpg. The A/C will turn on automatically when you press auto to help dehumidify the air no matter what temperature is set. Slightly over inflate your tires and drive like an egg is under your foot...

In all cases, it will probably sap your enjoyment of the car thus rendering the money spent on it an even bigger waste than gas money.
