I renewed my vows...

and leased another G Coupe. I took advantage of Infiniti's current pull-ahead program and picked up a Moonlight White with Graphite 2012 G37xS Coupe with Premium, Sport, Navigation and a few miscellaneous accessories (illuminated kick plates, etc.). It listed for $49,000. Even though I had a few lease payments remaining, with the pull-ahead program, the deal was too good to pass up. My monthly payment remained exactly the same and I put less money down. Considering my previous G37x Coupe listed for $43,000, the current offer was very attractive.

Some initial observations...I love the sport package - the lower front bumper with integrated fog lights, the 19" rims, the sport brakes, the rocker panels, the front seats and the handling are all welcome improvements from my non-sport G Coupe. A few nitpicks - I have the Graphite interior with the brushed aluminum trim, which is really nice. However, I dislike the stone colored headliner. They really need to make it black or at least dark gray with Graphite leather - anyone else agree? Another minor thing that stands out is the front sport seats have an nice contrasting white stitching on them. However, there's no white stitching on the rear seats. It looks unfinished. Did they run out of white thread? LOL

I just re-installed my K&N Typhoon cold air intake and I plan to have the OEM rear deck lid spoiler installed later this month. Aside from that, since it's leased, I don't plan to do much in terms of mods.

Welcome back. Why don't you actually buy the car instead of leasing it. You can make the term 39 months and pay it off.

Thanks Dashkid. If I financed my car for 39 months the payment would be roughly $1,200 a month compared to the $500 a month I'm currently paying with my lease. My budget doesn't allow for a $1,200 or even a $1,000 monthly payment. Plus, I like getting a new car about every 3 years. If I kept my cars longer, it would probably make sense to buy them. Aside from oil changes and tire rotations, I paid for no additional maintenance or repairs on my previous G, as the car was covered under warranty for the entire lease term. With leasing, a lot depends on the amount of mileage you put on your vehicle and how well you maintain it. For some people leasing makes sense, for others it doesn't.

^ agree, I'm for sure leasing next.

Was 49k the final price you agreed on?

How much did you put down if you don't mind me asking.

Congrats!

It's funny because I never understood leasing. Then I started getting bored with cars really quick and realized that it WAS for me so I looked around. The only thing that keeps me from doing it is the total money paid at the end. While it is cool that you are free and clear to move on, you also have no car to show for it after paying >$20,000. So it depends on the person (like you said) and the vehicle. The only thing about the G specifically, you can purchase one for the low 20's with less then 50k miles on it. Thats the downside of the car being out for 4-5 years. The PLUS is that we should see a NEW version around the end of a typical lease which is AWESOME if you aren't locked in. So many pluses and minuses.

Here are the details of my deal:

2012 G37xS Coupe
Sticker $49,000
39 month lease at $500 per month
15,000 miles a year
Total cash due at signing $500 (My first payment)
Includes all taxes, tags, MV, etc.

I believe to get to that number, they discounted the car a total of $5,000 (this number included a $1,500 rebate and a $1,000 owner loyalty incentive).

My accountant told me that if you like to get a new car every couple of years, don't put a lot of miles on your car and generally take good care of your car, leasing has financial advantages. 1) You can put very little or in most cases no money down up front. 2) You can drive a more expensive vehicle then if you financed it. 3) You mitigate the depreciation by essentially paying for only the portion of the vehicle you are using - when you purchase, the moment you drive the car off the lot it's value drops like a brick (try trading in a car after one year). 4) The vehicle is covered under the factory warranty during the entire lease term.

I've purchased cars before and financed them for 60 months and put $5,000+ cash down. By the time my car is paid off, it has 75,000 miles on it, needs new tires, brakes, etc. and I'm tired of it. Plus, if I go to trade it in, the dealer wants to give me peanuts for it. I've sold cars privately, but it can be a hassle.

As I said earlier, leasing is not for everyone. My brother loves to buy his cars and keep them for 10 years. For him purchasing makes sense. I almost forgot to mention, if you like to do extensive mods to your car, leasing is probably not a viable option for you. I say go with whatever meets your individual wants and needs.

This is semi true. The reason why I would never lease my car is because all the money you pay towards the car doesn't really come back to help you. So your basically at a loss after the terms of the car while if you finance it and pay it off you can at least get 40% of your money back but since you like getting into new cars every 3 years that would be perfect for you. I tend to always get 60 month terms and pay it off with in 2 years.

A big factor of why I don't lease anymore is after pay about $500 a month for like 36 months comes out to be $18,000 dollars that basically didn't go towards anything.

But you sir are correct some people just like leasing better than buying.

My 12' xS is 492/mo 0 down and 16,500 miles allowed per year.

I agree with leasing cars. It has its advantages and its disadvantages.

My company pays for my car so I don't really car. I do not know if I would lease if they didn't pay the whole note. I have never been in that situation.
