2 different tint options
Hi guys,
I've been looking into getting my 09' red G tinted and have two different options and need some advice.
Shop 1 will install viper tint with warranty for 230.
Shop 2 will install Llumar tint for 170 with warranty.
I don't know much about either brand of tint, but i have heard good things about Llumar. Since I'll be living in TX, i think i'm going to go with a uniform 35% all around. I dont know too much about tinting so any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Llumar uses a metallic coating that some installers say may interfere if you have GPS. If you don't have GPS, then Llumar will work just fine. I'm assuming the Viper tint is equivalent to 3M tint which is a non-metallic tint. They both should outlast the lifetime of your car and shouldn't have any fading, bubbling, peeling or purpling. I believe the Llumar has a lifetime warranty against any of those things. Don't know about the Viper
I'd go with 20% if you can get away with it. 35% is too light for me.

If you will be driving in Texas and want to avoid the chance of a ticket:
Side Windows to The Right and Left of The Driver
Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, have a light transmittance value of 25% or more.
Side Windows to The Rear of The Driver
These windows are completely exempted from regulation under the Texas Transportation Code.
Rear Window
If a motor vehicle is equipped with an outside mirror on each side of the vehicle that reflects to the vehicle operator a view of the roadway for a distance of at least 200 feet from the rear of the vehicle then there are no restrictions regarding the sunscreening devices applied to the rear window.

^^ with all due* respect, we are talking about tint, not icebergs or cruise ships carrying thousands of lives^^
It goes without saying, (or so I thought) If you cant see out of a car with 5% tint at night you shouldn't put 5% tint on your car.
My opinion as previously stated is and was get the darkest you can get (and safely drive at night), if you get pulled over then its a problem you can rectify with $200 (not 100 lifeboats and some crackers). I have been pulled over and never had my tint mentioned in, CA, NY, OK, TX, AR, FL.... take it for what its worth, be safe...

Your logic escapes me. You seem to be saying just because there are potentially only one or two lives at stake caused by a night auto accident instead of thousands where visibility would be an issue then it’s OK.
Now I agree with you that one should get the darkest tint where you can drive safely at night. The issue is how dark is that? I doubt 5% would ever qualify.
And of course, having never been ticketed YET (I added yet) means nothing. Not to pick on poor Captain Smith again, but he crossed the Atlantic for thirty years without ever hitting anything---except for that last time.

Let the poor guy do what he wants. Who gives a crap about what the captain of the titanic did. Last I checked, the titanic had nothing to do with window tint, nor do the choices made by the crew have anything to do with it either.
Sooner, tint as dark or light as you like and feel you can safely drive. Me, personally, I did 35% all around and with the natural window tint comes to about 31%...that's plenty dark for me. I had darker on my last car and I found looking out the back window was a challenge unless the lighting conditions were really good at night.
Do what u want and let all these other jokesters stand on the bow of the ship with their epeens in their hands yelling "IM KING THE KING OF THE WORLD!!!!"
