Oil Change, Leased Car

Hey Everyone,

I am almost due for my first oil change for my 2011 G37X Lease. I was told when purchasing the car that they would prefer Infiniti to change the Oil each time. However, I have heard that it would be okay for me to change the oil myself (As i have always done with prior cars). Does anyone have any experience with doing this in the past?

Thanks!

Of course they prefer you have them do it.

Go change your oil yourself.

First oil change should be free from infiniti. After that, change it yourself.

That's what I always thought. So me performing my own oil changes shouldn't affect me at lease end?

Thanks!

Yeah, you are correct. However, I purchased my Infiniti 200 miles away so that would be tough . I tried for a closer dealer but they said it had to be at their dealership.

its your car do what you want to it. If you are going to turn it in just make sure it is like just like when you pulled it out of the lot. You can leave tint on.

You should be able to go to ANY Nissan or Infiniti dealer if you need to for whatever.

But honestly, doing the oil change yourself shouldn't void your warrenty.

I appreciate the responses. I have been told before that I was able to do my own oil changes even though Infiniti pushed that they wanted to do them for more $$$. Just want to make sure i'm not doing anything to void a warranty by doing it myself.

You cant beat their loaner service. Oil change is like 39 bucks and they'll give you a car for the day...

^ it really depends on the dealership, but typically the first oil change is free from the dealer. after, no. it's expensive for dino oil!

I made them add it as part of the purchase agreement. Even made them specify synthetic. On delivery, I collected a half case of nissan ester oil + filter + crush washer. This way I know exactly what's going in the car.

When is the best time to add these addons? Probably when you're close to a final price.

Hey Everyone,

I had another quick question. I am currently at 4000 miles and haven't changed my oil. I have checked the oil and it is fine. I am changing it this afternoon.

However, someone said something to me about someone signing off on the oil change? THat's why Infiniti may have to do it? Does this sound right? I was just going to change it myself.

Also, will i get in trouble by being over my oil change since I am at 4000 miles?

Thanks!
