Turned traction control off, still was on
So the other day I was gonna make a turn, and it always stops in between trying to make it... So I turned off traction, yet when I made the turn, the light still came up. Does the button have to be pushed and held for as long as I want traction to be off?

Oh, so there isn't a way to turn off traction control? What would happen if I get stuck in a snowy spot, would hitting the button simply get me out? I'm very curious

I remember reading on this forum about holding the button in for 15 plus seconds and that would make the car think it was a stuck button and just turn the vdc only off until the car is shut down and restarted.

It works... Just hold it until the vdc off light flashes and I believe the slip light will flash as well. I did this while stationary though. After you turn the car off it will come back on at the next start up

This has been discussed many, many times. Pressing the VDC button will turn off VDC but the traction control always remains on. From page 5-54 of the 2011 manual.
The VDC OFF switch is used to turn off the VDC system. The VDC off indicator illuminates to indicate the VDC system is off. When the VDC switch is used to turn off the system, the VDC system still operates to prevent one drive wheel from slipping by transferring power to a non slipping drive wheel. The VDC warning light flashes if this occurs. All other VDC functions are off, and the VDC warning light will not flash. The VDC system is automatically reset to on when the ignition switch is placed in the off position then back to the on position.

The slip light flases becuase it registers an error with you holding down the VDC button. It does not, however, disable the VDC system completely; on the the stability control component.

The traction control system does turn off, so it won't cut power to the engine when it detects a slip. However, the ABLS (Active Brake Limited Slip) does not turn off with VDC off. ABLS transfers power from one wheel to the other on the axle by using brakes on one side. This is exactly what the manual is describing. Read the chapter on VDC.
